Guest guest
Lori, there's a series of podcasts on overcoming hunger phobia. It starts with #41, the intro to EFT. Hopefully that makes your search shorter. :-) Krissy, if you really like it and you don't want to change, then it's great. If you do want to change... there are a lot of pointers in the way you worded your message. Starting with the fact that you lean back and sit around for 20 minutes feeling cozy. What would happen if you sat back for 20 minutes feeling cozy BEFORE you ate, instead of after? If the positive intent behind feeling overly full is to be able to sit for 20 minutes, well, you can give that to yourself without the food. You're using the word " gorge " , which generally has negative connotations. Makes me think that in spite of the fact that you feel some positives about the behavior, there's something about it that you see as negative. Are you sure it's actually the feeling of being overly full that you like, and not the feeling that you basically went out of control? You're in a situation where other people are trying in one way or another to control you. Like your agent telling you exactly how many inches you should be, and your mother telling you how often to measure. Now, I'm really good at jumping to conclusions, but I'm wondering if there isn't a bit of a rebellion thing going on here. You can honestly say you're eating salad, and you're only eating three meals a day--but you're still going a bit out of control..... There's a good chance that I'm wrong here, but take a moment to consider the idea first. Take a moment to analyze the way you feel after that big meal. Where do you actually feel good? Is there anywhere you don't feel good? And take a moment to think about how you felt before you ate to the point of discomfort. Were you feeling any emotional discomfort before you ate? How do you feel about restricting yourself the rest of the day? Do you like the feeling, or does it bring out some of what Lori mentions--fear of being hungry? I know that for me, too much restriction (because of dieting mentality, or uncertainty, or whatever) brings on a feeling that I need to eat as much as possible when food is available. Maybe take a moment to think about how you'd feel the rest of the day if you had a little bit more at each of your other meals. As I say, I'm good at jumping to conclusions. But hopefully even if I'm wrong, my thoughts can trigger something to point you in the right direction. >________________________________ > >To: insideoutweightloss >Sent: Friday, May 11, 2012 3:32 AM >Subject: Re: I actually like overeating... > > > > >I actually do not like the feeling of being super full (Full - yes). I don't like eating so there's still some room left in my stomach. I'd rather eat two small meals early on in the day and one HUGE meal at the end of my day and feel so satiated that I have to lean back and sit around for 20 minutes 'cause I'm so full and cozy that I can't move. Eating passed the point of being full can feel good, especially when you're eating healthy stuff. Guest guest
Krissy, I think of it more as projecting than intuition--I know how certain words, certain situations make " me* feel, so I wonder if it makes you feel the same. Glad it resonated with you. And your victory over the cake made me smile! :-) >
