But! the psychological cravings are still there.. it's been since Feb 6th! I even have what I want my first post-paleo challenge treat to be... and it ain't healthy.. and neither is that thinking. Guest guest
paleo 'popsicles' have been my saving grace through our challenge 2 large bananas ¼ cup creamy roasted almond butter ¼ cup full fat coconut milk 2 tablespoons cocoa powder 1 tablespoon vanilla extract put in a blender until smooth then freeze in Popsicle molds (or those little mason jars work well). you can substitute water for the coconut milk -- it makes 4 - 6 Popsicle depending on the size of the mold and you've got the frozen, chocolate, creaminess that helps. ________________________________ To: insideoutweightloss Sent: Wednesday, February 29, 2012 12:19 PM Subject: Do cravings ever stop?  Oh my goodness! Guest guest
Our homework for the class yesterday was writing down our positive intents for not doing what we should even though we think we want to. I think it's podcast 5 or 6. What are you trying to get from eating something that's just a craving; comfort, a break or reward, etc. I realized that I've been on a diet forever and I'm not sure what I would do if I wasn't on one. It's a way of life and has been for over 30 yrs. Good luck! ________________________________ To: insideoutweightloss Sent: Wednesday, February 29, 2012 2:19 PM Subject: Do cravings ever stop? Guest guest
Corinna, Is there a chance you're having cravings because you are missing certain nutrients--but your mind is changing them to cravings for something less healthy? When I was on Atkins, I knew it was time to stop when I started craving brown rice and dreaming of oatmeal. (Or maybe it was the other way around, but dreaming and craving were both involved.) So that was a nice, clear signal. When I was pregnant, I'd often have ice cream cravings that were completely satisfied by yogurt. Body said " calcium/dairy " brain said " ice cream " .  Are you taking a multivitamin? If not, it might be worth it, at least through the challenge. Cravings in and of themselves are not " bad " , any more than hunger is inherently bad. They are signals our body uses when we truly need something. So do what you can to rule out physiological cravings before you determine that it's all psychological.... >________________________________ > >To: insideoutweightloss >Sent: Wednesday, February 29, 2012 10:19 PM >Subject: Do cravings ever stop? > > > >Oh my goodness! Guest guest
Corinna: Have you tried tapping to release the cravings? Try tapping a few rounds to acknowledge the craving and how badly you want the food you are craving, and end with a positive affirmation accepting yourself and honoring your journey to achieve a slim healthy lifestyle. b. Guest guest
Corinna: DON'T THINK ABOUT A PINK ELEPHANT!! What are you thinking about?? : ) Forgive yourself for falling prey to the PINK ELEPHANT syndrome and then let go!! I always endorse using EFT! I also endorse relaxing and shifting your thinking to the NOW. Focus on the choice you made and the wonderful reactions you described your body is having!! When the thoughts come up, turn the volume down and breathe into your body. ENJOY THAT HIGH!! It sounds like you are having an amazing experience!! Make that YOUR pink elephant!! Guest guest
Colleen - Whoot! Thanks. - Thanks - I try to tell myself that. I clearly have compulsion issues.. - I couldn't imagine what nutrients I am missing. I am not eating low carb, just whole, unprocessed foods.. If anything, the cravings should be coming from my body wanting processed foods, which is more like withdrawl! I do take fish oils and Vitamin D.. otherwise no, I don't take supplements.. I don't stomach them well. Kim - Positive intent.. To calm and sooth me, I am sure! Maybe I just have a mommy complex. Hehehe.. *sigh* But hrm! Maybe not just to calm and sooth me but for a break.. Great nugget to ponder, thanks! Corinna

Guest guest
How's the paleo diet? I'm realizing just reading the book is not enough and have started back in my old ways of scarfing down cookies when I'm stressed out and losing sleep. Suggestions? > > > > > > > Oh my goodness! Guest guest
Hi Corinna, I know Paleo isn't low carb--I mentioned Atkins because that's what I did way back when. And I forgot to say that my cravings for grains came after four months--not at the beginning. Most elimination diets (for testing food allergy or intolerance) are for three weeks--so if it's still the withdrawal, the symptoms should be subsiding very soon. As for Paleo--it does call for cutting out grains, legumes, and dairy. Although each of these foods has its issues, they all are nutrient-dense, in their most unprocessed form. So there could be something you're missing. It's also possible that the cravings date back to a nutritional debt you're paying off now, and it will take another month or two of your new clean eating for your body to catch up. That's why I think it's worth taking a moment when you get these cravings to run through a list of healthy foods to see if one of them makes your body feel like jumping up and dancing.... And if it *is* totally unrelated to nutrient deficiency, the cravings still can give a pointer as to what the underlying emotion is. A craving for sweet is often associated with sadness; a craving for crunchy correlates with anger. >________________________________ > > > > - I couldn't imagine what nutrients I am missing. Guest guest
Craftymama - Paleo diet is going well.. I wouldn't say easy as I am having psychological cravings.. emotional triggers. It's funny, yet not. Compulsive behaviour shining right through.. but the diet itself? I feel great! I feel that some foods have too much fat in them, but it must take some getting used to.. Do you crossfit as well? What made you try paleo and what book did you read?
