She recently had a stroke and several mini strokes after that. She has difficulty getting out of chairs. I too pray that God takes her before she gets any worse. I don't know if that is wrong or right but I was always taught to pray what was in your heart. Guest guest
HI kdwwilke I know you may feel some what alone but do not. I was 42 when I was dx with stills. Spent some time in the hospital and er fact at lest 4 times that year. Traveled to calif because no one in Idaho knew what was going on at the time. The pred also for a time had me with high sugar and insulin shots. It was hard but in time I adjusted to stills or it did to my old never give up redneck way. Now days after a long flair free time of a few years I am back flaring but not as bad as the first round. Coming here was one of the best things I ever did for understanding when I felt no one other did including family. (Ended up in a divorce over my having stills.) But now 5 years plus down the line things look so much better in my life even though I am having a hard time controlling my pain and a doc that just dose not get it IT HURTS. And I am having trouble walking most of the time again. But life is way better for me once we got to be friends all here and stills. yes the later is not a friend we want any of us want just one that's like old fish or guest that stay to long they all begin to sink after a few day but I found a cloths pin works good ( adjustment and rest) to clean the air some what Glad ya found us but sorry you had to even look for us here Hugs all Marty the redneck dragon fighter who is now wounded again. Guest guest
hi,what is your name?i am elly from michigan,i've been a member a long time now and when i found this site it felt like i won the lottery!at last someone who knew what the heck stills was!i have had stills since i wa 42 but diagnosed in 92.i am 60 now. one thing that always gets me down after a flare is how weak you feel.for me the weakness doesn't go away until after the 7 week mark.everyone is different but the same, but here is the place to be no matter what, because no matter how great your doc is,unless you have it,you don't get it! ther is so much more involved than just the pain, and people here know all about the depression the family understanding or not and what great milestones we all strive for, like getting off steroids!!!!!!!!!!!!so welcome and ask anything that is of concern to you and a kind loving member of this fabulous group will surely give you an answer or a suggestion.love elly kdwwilke wrote: I was diagnosed about a month ago, after being a healthy 43 year old. I went from healthy to an invalid in bed, and to the hospital for ten days. I am doing better, but very discouraged with this initial acute phase. My legs have atrophied, and no strength. Prednisone use (which got me to a functional state and out of bed) has sent my blood sugar sky high. I hope this doesn't last long, but am pretty scare right now. __________________________________________________
Guest guest
KDW Wilke, Hi-de-ho and welcome aboard! Well with this being your first month with the stills dx, some of this information will really piss you off! I'm 56, Medical Equipment Field Service Engineer. Last april I was dx with stills.Like you, I needed help to get up and so on. I could not do anything for almost 19 weeks. Then the meds started to do their job. but not without seeing my way to the ER so many times I now forget. Start a log of your daily progress. I lost my Job and I'm just now starting to think I might be able to return to the work force! It's a long slow process. The meds take a while to kick in. get off of that prednisone as soon as you can. Fight the Stills all the way. Do your best to get ready for work everyday. Yea its hell trying, but don't give in. I could keep telling you what needs to be done but your body will tell you the rest of the story! Hang in there, the light is far away, you will learn to relive and move forward....Stay with us and hold on for a ride of your life. P.S. try to keep your stress as low as you can. Greetings from Wisconsin, Alan ..
Guest guest
Hello Helen and welcome hun how exciting monday will soon be here and you will start your journey we all get a little nervous but soon it will be all over no matter some of the lows we all go through i dont think any of us have any regrets we are all here and will support you all the way i havent been in the group long really and only banded since late september but everyone is supportive and theres always someone who can answer just about any question we have hugs Leeanne -- I'm New Here Hello, I'm going in for my lap band surgery on Monday. To be honest I'm a little nervous but I guess I'm not the first to feel like that! I'd really like to get to know people at all stages of their journey. I've had a look at a lot of your pics (so inspiring) and read some of the email chains so I am sure that I can learn a lot from all of you and hopefully at some stage share my experience with others. Any words of advice gratefully received. At the moment I really don't know what I don't know so words of encouragement are great so is a realistic view of what I might expect in the first 4-6 weeks. Thanks Helen PLEASE NOTE: If you experience any problems with any surgeons, doctors or other health professionals and their Code Of Conduct at any stage of your band journey, the arena you need to discuss this will be within the privacy of their surgery or rooms, with them not us. This is not a forum to air any grievances or defame a professional persons' reputation in any way, even if they have upset you immensely. Some Doctors are members of this group and may well read what you have said about them, and anything defamatory you say could lead to legal action being taken against you by the professional discussed. This is also not a forum to defame or slander any member on this site. We are individuals with different opinions and need to respect each other and each other's opinion. This journey is about support for all of us.

It's so great reading how your all support one another - I speak to a few gals on Dr Hughe's yahoo messages but, other than than I don't have anyone around me going through this with me... Guest guest
Hi Leeanne, THANKYOU for being so welcomming - man I hope I haven't ruined the band with my addiction to food - I wont be able forgive myself!!!!! I guess I knew it was wrong - but the love of food is the reason I am in this position in the first place... Anyway can't change the past, but I can change the future. Liquids from here on in! Well for anyone who wants to know I'll just tell you a lil something about myself. I am 27 years old, married with 2 babies - of the cute furry type - that's right a couple of puppies - who are basically my life! LOL I have been pretty much overweight since I was maybe 8 years old?? Well that's the first time I got on a scale and realised I needed to be on a diet. I have now been on a diet for 19 years with a success rate which got me to 135kg!!!! Since the Tony Fegusson 3 weeks pre-op and the past week, I have dropped to 124kg - such a long road to hit 70kg. You guys are all so inspirational - thankyou!!! Guest guest
Hi There YCongratulations on the band. I am a month ahead of you in the surgery dept, so the fluid phase and mushies are very fresh in my mind!( i am only day 5 of solids) I found that i could only tolerate thin fluids in the first week and then got a bit thicker the next week. If you like mushrooms the campbells sensations mushroom and cracked pepper soup is delish!Juzzy Re: I'm New Here > > Hi everyone, > > I am new on this post - I have been reading posts for many weeks now > but have never actually participated. .. Guest guest
Hey Y Welcome to the party, pull up a bean bag... Glad we have been of some help to you, some days you have to wonder if you have stumbled on a mad recipe site, but on the whole we do stay a little focused and get a bit of info out there. It is good to know that you are not alone, there are lots of us bandits walking amongst but you never can be sure where or who. So its good to have a bit of an anonymous outlet – although there were 6 l0ud bandsters in a Chinese restaurant in Ettalong last night that left no doubt. Guest guest
Well methinks you should come along to the next central coast function then, no excuses! And it was Berowra's turn yesterday to cop the bandsters - there was enough of us there. >> Hi ,> > Thanks for the welcome I read the posts regarding last nights dinner > with amusement. Guest guest
Hi everyone! I just started listening to the podcasts a couple weeks ago, and can already tell a huge difference in my thoughts and actions related to food. Today I wasn't excited about eating the healthy snack that I'd planned for this afternoon, so I was thinking about what I wanted to eat instead. All of this junk food came to mind, and I stopped and thought about what emotions I was feeling that made me want to eat instead of dealing with them. Then out of nowhere this thought comes to me, " What could I eat that would nurish my body and give it the energy it needs to get through the day? " The healthy snack I had planned immediately popped in my head, and it now sounded GOOD - even BETTER than the junk food!! I was amazed! That was a major break through for me, and I'm looking forward to many more on this journey!

Guest guest
That's wonderful ! It's funny isn't it - health arguments didn't work before for me. But after doing this program, suddenly the idea of giving myself healthy food actually works in keeping me on track and motivated. It totally trips me out sometimes, lol. Welcome to the group!
