Hi everyone-

Does anyone have good ideas or methods for avoiding the late night

eating/bingeing. I am very mindful of my food during the day and then I get into

the later hours of the night and I want to just continually eat. I know I do it

to relax but then I wake up the next morning feeling bad about myself. Any

suggestions?

,

am wondering if you're eating enough of the right types of food as being hungry

at night can be a sign of this.  Having more protein and healthy fats at your

last meal may help with this or leaving some room in your calories to have an

after dinner snack (string cheese or little bit of almond butter & an apple or

some sliced avocado wrapped in a deli turkey slice) that had protein & healthy

fat as part of the snack.

if it's mindless eating/snacking - maybe changing up your nightly routine

(exercising after dinner instead of after work? going for a walk or bike ride

after dinner? going to bed earlier & getting up earlier?) or getting some new

habits (brushing your teeth after dinner so you won't eat, getting involved in a

hobby like scrapbooking or reading a good book) would help?

Hi :

Listen to Episode 89 - Ending Night Time Eating. It covers your issue

exactly! shares about a client who uses night time eating to

relax.

Let us know if this helps or you need more guidance.

I totally use night time eating as a way to relax! Thanks for the episode

number, .. :)

I remember listening to a Tony Robbins tape a billion years ago and the

exercise was to think of two foods.. one that you enjoy immensely but

have control over and one that you have issues controlling.. So I chose

bananas and ice cream (you choose which is which for me.. Hehehe)

So first you take the food you have control over and imagine the food..

Blow it up in your mind and imagine yourself eating it.. Then he asks

what you are thinking/feel as you " eat " it.. And being the 3 year old

that I am.. I think " num num num num " (really, bananas are nummy!)..

Then you take the food you lose control over.. same exercise.. blow it

up in your mind.. make it big.. imagine how great it will taste.. then

imagine yourself eating it.. Again.. what do you feel? HUGE light bulb

moment for me.. I felt NOTHING.

This came after years of me saying I'm not an emotional eater! I eat to

numb my emotions... And to calm down. Etc etc..

What I have found works is the redo.. the exercise at the end of the day

where you imagine how you act tomorrow in the same situation.. that

really worked for me. :)
