New Ventures, Old Losses, and Coping

Hi.

Just uploaded a ringtone to iTunes for sale. If " Ringtone Baby " does not make

back my $30 or so, I will not have lost a lot. I have been working very hard at

self-soothing in helpful ways. I am planning to keep truckin' literally this

fall instead of returning to my music teaching business. I have taught full time

for 7 years but the economy is tough, students hard to find, my teeth are in

need of repairs, and trucking gives dental benefits. I hope I am doing the right

thing. I will teach Saturday afternoons and maybe an evening or two but it hurts

to drop most of my students, and to walk away from the schools during the day. I

had hoped I could make a living at it but the mortgage comes before the dreams.

Maybe once the kids are all moved out and expenses are less. Maybe the economy

will get better in a year or two. Maybe by then my teeth and my wife's teeth

will be all fixed up. Meantime, I am walking away from self-employed and driving

away in a company truck. I am trying to deal with this and a bunch of family

related stresses and fights among those I love in ways that are not destructive

or self destructive. It is a challenge.
