Guest guest
Ouch, sorry for that pain. Maybe for that pain- a hot water bottle, deep breathing through your abdomen (breathing through the area that hurts is even affective for knees!) and some warm soothing music. I to have wondered about the replacement " treats " . For me, sewing and quilting is my go to for feeling better. But when I am out with the kids or need a fast fix and sewing is not an option, I am sorry to say that I am still reaching for food. I am working through that of course. My desire is to do like suggests, " drop inside " at that moment. Reach for the core of what is going on inside my head and work through that instead. But these habits have long been in place so I guess undoing for me has been a journey that I am still traveling. Hoope that helps. ________________________________ To: insideoutweightloss Sent: Tuesday, August 7, 2012 4:09 PM Subject: One for the ladies - period pain  Alright folks, I have a question. I'm learning to re-train myself to think of " treats " as other things - so if I " deserve a treat " I take myself for a walk, do some gardening, or play my guitar. However, today I had a doc's appointment and discovered that my IUS had fallen out (eek!) and they had to remove it entirely and fit me with a new one. Now I'm stuck with the period pain that goes with it and my normal " treats " don't help if all I want to do is curl up on the couch, eat doritos and squirm from the pain. I'm ashamed to admit that that's exactly what I did today. D'oh! Does anyone have any techniques for replacing the normal junk food " treats " with something else when you're feeling under the weather? Guest guest
I'm with Lori--when your body is in pain, treat it to rest. And in that case, probably herbal tea to go with the hot water bottle.... Hope you're feeling better today. And Lori, in situations like that, when I'm tired and drained want to be curled up with a book but I'm with the kids--it sometimes helps to remind myself that being a present mother is something I want, and actually visualize being there as something that is renewing instead of draining. Even if I don't actually end up feeling renewed, it at least stops the draining feeling . >________________________________ > >To: " insideoutweightloss " <insideoutweightloss > >Sent: Wednesday, August 8, 2012 4:48 AM >Subject: Re: One for the ladies - period pain > > > >Ouch, sorry for that pain. > >________________________________ > >To: insideoutweightloss >Sent: Tuesday, August 7, 2012 4:09 PM >Subject: One for the ladies - period pain > > > >Alright folks, I have a question. Guest guest
My " treats " when I am in pain are a hot rice sock on the belly, some sort of tea, and a nap on the couch curled up in a ball. When you don't feel good, a nap is really the best treat! -Kari > ** > > > I'm with Lori--when your body is in pain, treat it to rest. Guest guest
Thanks , I like it. I have on a few occasions, when complaining, used that as a signal to start being grateful. But I forget and it is good to be reminded. This was excellent advice, because in no time they will be all grown up and I will wish I was here again! Guest guest
Hi All, First off, to Charlotte - is an IUS and IUD? If yes, my body rejected two this year, so I can totally empathize with the physical pain you are experiencing. I couldn't agree more about taking good care when your body is hurting. But thank you for the great advice that when I'm craving time to disappear and read or be alone but my daughter needs me, it's a great time to remember that I CHOSE to be a parent and that she is getting so big so quickly. I will miss the days when she wants to be with me and I want to be a present, attentive mother. Feel well everyone! ________________________________ To: " insideoutweightloss " <insideoutweightloss > Sent: Wednesday, August 8, 2012 7:09 AM Subject: Re: One for the ladies - period pain  Thanks , I like it. I have on a few occasions, when complaining, used that as a signal to start being grateful. But I forget and it is good to be reminded.
