Guest guest
Tonight I had the opportunity to remember once again how lucky I am to have found and her podcasts. I went to a nutrition session at a posh London nutrition clinic and it was so clear to me that what she was spouting was just the same old bad advice that isn't going to solve anything (eat every 2-3 hours to maintain blood sugar, food combine (!), stay hydrated, eat breakfast, etc.) Now this is all very well and good, but she was so focused on these things that it totally missed the point and isn't going to help anyone! I was so shocked by this banal advice that I felt the need to chirp up fairly often (probably to her annoyance) in the effort to help the group. (I'll send an email later on to the attendees about IOWL, but obviously rude to do so there) I found it super helpful to start vocalizing the advice (even if I'm not totally following it myself all the time yet) to help cement the concepts in my mind. The best way to really prove you have internalized something is to teach it, right? A couple things that started to crystallize more in my mind today – - Nighttime craving for sugar is obvious. The body is tired and if you are tired, you are going to crave chocolate, caffeine, sugar, but you are also going to CRAVE SLEEP! You are tired, the right answer is not to go to chocolate, but GO TO SLEEP! - One girl in the session said that sometimes she is just so stressed at work that she every once in a while deserves a cake, for example. But that is just punishing yourself! If you truly love yourself and believe you deserve a reward (and it has to be food), then you should go out and buy yourself the highest quality sushi or organic fancy veggie dish! Something that will truly make you feel amazing for a long time. How is feeding yourself a stick of butter a reward? Try picturing a stick of butter every time you go for something sweet – that is a component of whatever you are about to eat, but just in disguise. Would you ever eat butter straight??? There were a few more, but that's what I'm thinking of now. I am so thankful to be in this process. I am feeling freer and freer each day and I know that it is becoming obvious in every interaction I have with others. I feel like I am radiating positive vibes! Is anyone else interested in forming a small group conference call with me that meets twice a week to just chat and discuss some of the things that come up in the podcast/book? I really find it helpful to talk about these learnings in a positive manner. I have a conference call dial-in that has global numbers so it would be a local call from wherever you are. If you are interested in joining this group and are able and committed to participate on Monday and Thursday nights at 9 pm UK time, please fill in this form - http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/DS2D77Q
Guest guest
Hi , I'd love to participate in your conference call, especially to positively reinforce all of the wonderful insights in 's book/podcasts. I'm not sure, however, that I can do it given the time difference and my work/childcare responsibilities. I would love to continue the online conversations however, and really loved your insights: 1. I agree that if you can vocalize your understandings of what is sharing, you've truly internalized them. 2. Taking care of ourselves with healthy foods and healthy living is the ultimate way to be decadent because it makes us feel so great.
