Guest guest
Hi I am a new member and have been an Asthmatic since age 5 I am now 43. I am currently on Advair 250/50 and frankly I suffer for a laundry list of side effects. I have mentioned to my Doc that perhaps a lower dose might help and he shut me right down. I am scheduled to see him this coming week and I was hoping to propose stopping the Advair completely and perhaps trying a different course of treatment. I would love to hear from any of my peers that may have gone through this and what worked for you. Breath easy Thanks Fredd Fishman

Guest guest
Hi Fredd, I, too, had a laundry list of side effects with Advair, from yeast in the esophagus to chronic lung infections. I stopped the Advair and my pulmonologost put me on Asmanex - one puff in the evenings - seems to be better for me, than Advair. Are you on any supplements?? Guest guest
Hi,I've been on Advair for several years now, and it was one of the few things that helped me. All of us are different, though, and respond to meds differently! I'm not sure which side effects you're experiencing, but a lower dose might help you. I am on 250/50 during the late fall and winter months (when my asthma is normally worse), and 100/50 during the spring and summer months when my asthma is much better. The lower dose helps me with the shakiness and what feels like a constant adrenaline rush, leading to a lack of sleep, in the warmer months when my asthma is normally better.I hope this helps you with what you say to your doctor!Be well, Looking for last minute shopping deals? Guest guest
I was on advair for 2 months and my asthma was worse because i constantly had respiratory infections(4 in 3 months) my doctor took me off advair and i'm now on symbicort 2 puffs 2x a day this works really well for me and i've had no adverse side effects. I'd definitely tell your doctor to 86 the advair. good luck!!!"Beth K." wrote: Hi Fredd, I, too, had a laundry list of side effects with Advair, from yeast in the esophagus to chronic lung infections. Guest guest
An alternative to Advair is Symbicort. It's much like Advair but from a different company. Another route you could explore with your doctor is using just one of the two components in Advair. Advair contains a steroid and a long lasting bronchodilator. You can get each separately and much cheaper in most cases. The steroid is Flovent and the bronchodilator is Serevent. Ask you doctor about that. > Hi > I am a new member and have been an Asthmatic since age 5 I am now 43. > > I am currently on Advair 250/50 and frankly I suffer for a laundry > list of side effects. Guest guest
Hi Fredd, As much as Advair helped my asthma symptoms, I had some pretty bad side effects too. My blood pressure shot up and I ended up in the hospital with ventricular tachycardia (a heart arrythmia) back in November. My cardiologist took me off Advair in January and everything has gone back to normal. I'm on Singulair right now which isn't as good as Advair but in the grand scheme of things, I'll take it! Advair is great for asthma but for some people like me, it's not worth the price. n Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Yahoo! Mobile. Try it now.
