Guest guest
Hi Kel, I am glad you are getting the implants out, I think you will be very happy to have your natural breasts back too. I think it is interesting how many more women are getting them out just cause they don't like them and not only for illness or other problems. Makes me wonder why so many think that implants are so glamorous when in fact they don't feel that good and not everone loves them, that includes men. Anyhow for your vitamin question I think that the best thing is to only take a multi and vitamin C although there may be others that are ok, I remember when i had my surgery Feng told me only to take Vitamin C and my multi and that was good enough for me. If anyone here has any other ideas or answers maybe they will let you know. I know that you need to avoid all prescription drugs too and also many over the counter meds like advil and motrin too. Make sure you take your vit C I took 1,000 mg a day to help me heal and it seemed to work as I healed well. Again keep us posted of your surgery and of your outcome. We care and are happy you have made a decision and set a date. Also Kel let us know about the Dr you use so that we can add them to the list if we have any others in that part of the world that need explant. You are in Australia right? Guest guest
Hi Yeah, it's really strange that so many women are now comfortable enough to admit that they do not like the way their implants feel. I was okay with them until about 2 months post when the distortion started when my pec's were flexed. It feels horrible and I can't imagine going through life feeling this way. I was an avid gym goer and stopped the gym in June last year to have my BA done, thinking I would go back once I had healed. I never did go back to the gym and even stopped my tae-bo awhile ago because it made my boobs hurt too much with the distortion (left side shoots straight out kind of under my armpit), it looks and feels gross. I even have distortion when I push my two year old in his stroller! When I showed one of the surgeons that I was checking out, he said " Oh, that's not bad at all. The only person that had a problem with the distortion was an olympic shooter " . The surgeon I am going with said that she had never seen it that bad. Maybe the guy had more experience or something but I just thought, well you wear them and see how comfy they are!!! The lady I am going with was wonderful and when I quizzed her about keeping my implants, she asked if I wanted to send them away for testing. That tells me that she will be easy to work with and even if her experience isn't that vast with explant at least if word gets out one day she will be a caring and compassionate surgeon for ladies with symptoms to see and not feel like they are putting it all on. That is what is great about this site and also explantation.com, you guys get the word out!!! Thanks for the vitamin answers, I forgot to ask my surgeon about it because I was trying to cover everything else. Also, yes, I am in Australia. And thanks for all your help and advice......it goes a long way when trying to research the whole explant thing. Cheers, Keli. > Hi Kel, > > I am glad you are getting the implants out, I think you will be very happy > to have your natural breasts back too. Guest guest
Had a surgery and received pre-op letter from anesthesiologist asking a halt to any herbal supplements two weeks prior to surgery. While their main concern is ginko biloba, they are not sure what herbals may thin blood or soften scar tissue like E and aspirin. One thing I wasn't told for any type of surgery and have read it extensively in teaching texts, is that an adquate Vitamin C level is necessary for good healing! Since we don't know what ours is, go right out and get some Ester C and take 2,000 mgs daily before and after surgery. You can't overdose on it as it is water-soluble. What you don't need, you will void (as you will see by the color of your urine) It's a good idea to take this forever, although less of it. Have never heard that birth control pills were contraindicated for surgery, but would consider getting off of them for a lot of other reasons. Guest guest
Hi -Marie Thanks for your posts. My left side does not feel squishy, just the right side. It still has that horrible feeling of when you bend over you can almost feel the saline moving with gravity, you know what I mean? But this I can deal with, but NOT the distortion or the achey breast tissue in the right side, that horrifies me because I don't know what is causing it. I am hoping that the implants haven't done too much damage on that side, but, I am expecting some. I know that I will not miss the feeling of the implants that's for sure, but I'm a little worried how I will handle how I look afterwards. This is the scariest part of all, not really the surgery, although I AM dreading going under again..... Keli. > Hi Keli: > I can relate. Did your boob feel sloshy? Guest guest
Hi -Marie I have had saline implants for 12 months on the 3rd July. I am hoping that I will go back to how I was, but my right implant was placed too low and now the crease is about an inch lower than the other side, not to mention that I have quite a bit of pain in the bottom half of that breast, I'm assuming that it's the tissue that's kind of being pulled down by the implant or it may be nerves. Along with this I have the bad distortion on the left side! So these two things together made my decision to explant. I am not getting a lift at this point. I went to two different surgeons in Australia and both said that they didn't think I needed a lift but would rather wait and see how I look 6 months down the track. This I can handle, but I think a lift at the same time would probably have helped me cope with the outcome a little better. I have had three kids and breast fed them all, so naturally I had a little sag, but nothing serious. I KNOW I will have alot more after explant, especially on the right. I guess if I wait they may be able to even me up a little more once they see how much tissue I have. (was a small B pre BA - am now a C with 265cc). I am lucky enough to feel HEAPS of tissue above the implant on the left, but not the right......scary. I am hoping that it's just because that side is lower and therefore kind of 'filled' up the bottom part of my breast. My surgeon (who is just lovely) said she will try and stitch my crease back up somehow to make me a little more even....so here's hoping that it will work. Best wishes for your lift -Marie, I have read your story and know you have been through so much. I will be watching to see how you go. Take Care, Keli. > Hi Keli: > How long have you had implants? Guest guest
Hi Keli, I had this crease problem as well. I had a mastopexy upon explant, and my right side is slightly lower than the left as a result of having had the implants. It is only really noticeable to me, but we are own worst critics, right? It's good that you are aware of this now and can address this with your surgeon. I wish I had had the foresight to discuss it with my explanting surgeon, but I didn't. It isn't too bad, but I am aware of it so it bugs me. I am sure you will come out okay. Glad you found a doc you are happy with. God bless. Guest guest
Hi e I think I will just stick to my multivitamins and Vitamin C (only 500 mg as Dr. Kold said), therefore I should be pretty much okay. I guess I should checkout what is in my multi first though, otherwise I will just stop taking them and eat heaps of fruit instead! I am not taking anything else, although I was on penicillin for two weeks with a really bad chest and sinus infection (due to a horrible virus that was going around....mine had to get infected!!!) I stopped the penicillin on Tuesday which will make that three weeks before my implant removal ( I hope my chest has completely cleared ). The only other thing that I might take would be the very occassional panadol tablet. Thanks for your help, Keli. > Kel, > > You need to discuss with your surgeon before surgery all the meds (prescription and non prescription) that you are taking, or have taken within 7-14 days of your surgery. It is not necessary for you to stop or avoid prescription meds unless your doc and/or anesthesiologist specifically state you need to (as you stated ASA would be one that you would definately want to be advised on as to when you should stop taking it). > > Herbal supplements and other non-prescription meds can be extremely dangerous when combined with anesthetics. I cannot think of the ones off the top of my head that have had reactions with anesthetics and/or the meds associated with most surgeries, but there are several. If you would like, I can consult with the pharmacist I work with and get the ones that have documented reactions, and I can also look up the names in my drug reference book. Kava is one that is associated with reactions, as is valerian root. > > e > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: Heer > Sent: Tuesday, May 07, 2002 9:41 PM > @y... > Subject: Re: Explant date set....... > > Hi Kel, > > I am glad you are getting the implants out, I think you will be very happy > to have your natural breasts back too. Guest guest
To -Marie Both the surgeons I seen did not really want to commit to a lift at this point as they just aren't sure if I'll need one. I think that I will and did stress this to them..... But, I'll just have to wait and see. The surgeon I am using thought that the scars just would not be worth it for the amount of lift that I would need. I guess this concerns her, so I am grateful that she is being honest with me. If I do need to go back for a lift at least she will be able to see what she has to work with. I have not yet ruled out going to the second surgeon that I consulted with for my lift as he has a great reputation for lifts but wasn't that interested in doing the best for me with the implant removal. He was basically just going to 'pop' them out and score the capsule.....so I decided that he was't for me. Another thing is I have an inverted nipple, my surgeon said she would be able to fix that at a later date (maybe along with the lift), she cannot fix it at the moment because you can't have compression on it. Bye for now, Keli. > Thank you Keli for your kind words. > > -Marie
Guest guest
Dear Keli Try not to stress, if the PS that you have chosen thinks this is the best way and you can't find someone else who will do it that you are happy with then just go with your decision in peace and later on if you need to the lift you can do it. I think that your breasts must not be as saggy as mine, cause there was no way I would have had mine out without a lift, so I think you know what your body was like and it must not be so bad like what I had. I think that what kept me from getting out the implants sooner was the fact that I was so afraid of how I looked before implants, i just knew I couldn't go back to that crap no way. I had no idea that I would even look as good as I do now, because I had no idea that a lift could do such wonders esp on someone who was as saggy as me. I also know that my boobs look so much better now than they did before implants that i am really really pleased about that. Now at 17 months post explant I have to say I can't even find the vertical lift scar anymore, and the ones around the nipple don't really bug me at all. I wish I didn't have the stretch marks, ha those bug me way more than than my scars. You can always get a lift later if you need it, besides one thing that people forget is that the implants when placed submuscularly don't actually stretch out the breast tissue that much, since they are under the muscle they actually stretch out the muscle more than the tissue. The other thing is that you don't sound like you got that huge of implants, and since your breasts already had some slight sag to them it stands to reason that the implants probably have not stretched them out that much more than they were. So in actuallity maybe your breasts won't be that much saggier than they were to begin with. later on when you heal you can figure out what to do. The important thing now is to get those implants out while you are healthy and not having health issues, then later on you can decide what to do about the sag if it bugs you. Yes it is nice to be able to have it all done at once, but maybe your PS can see that your breasts don't need the lift, who knows, if it saves you some scarring then maybe it will be worth. If you don't have problems with anesthesia I don't think that having a second procedure will be that tough on your body, again everyone reacts different to anesthesia. I had 3 surgeries with general anesthesia in 2 years and never really had any problems from it. Good luck and we will keep you in our thoughts and prayers, let us know how things turn out and remember that we would love to have your pics and story up here on the site. Guest guest
You will be ok girl hang in there, you will love having back your own natural soft tissue again and you will soon enough forget what it was like to ever have implants. For me I am feeling so much better everyday, it is an awesome feeling and I am very happy that the implants are gone. I also realized today at the gym that implants really are not that attractive, these two young girls walked in with obvious implants and to me they looked so big and hard and fake and I was almost embarrassed for them that they were walking around looking like that, I wanted so bad to go over to them and hand them a sweater to cover up. My husband told me that most women that have big fake implants like that get made of fun by men, and not looked at as someone they would want to date at all. I never realized that more than today when I saw those girls at the gym. I don't think one man in the gym was looking at them thinking they looked cute I think everyone was looking at them wondering what the heck they were thinking walking around like that. How embarrassing it was, I felt not one ounce of envy about that. I was finally once and for all convinced that I looked way better with my own natural A cups than those girls did with the D cups they were sporting. Blah, anyhow didn't mean to ramble, hang in there Keli, you will be so happy to be natural and have all that pain and discomfort be over with. The relief you will experience will be almost immediate. You will love it.!!! Guest guest
Thanks CJ You girls are all so supportive and full of great advice, I don't know where I would have ended up without you all. I think I need to take this one step at a time and just go with it. I can't wait to get back to the gym! It's been sooo long, nearly a year! It's amazing how quickly you go to mush without it when you're body is used to working out. I am really looking forward to having the explant all over and done with so I can just get on with healing AND to see how much damage I have done to myself. I will be happy just to have something to put in my bra! I am not, however, looking forward to wearing compression bandages and sports bras......I'm sure I'll be as flat as a pancake. At least it's nearly winter here...I can cover up. I also worry about not healing right, I'd hate my muscles to be messed up forever and to have continued pain...that would be the worst. Anyway, no point in worrying too much right now, it's time to sit back and wait.... Thanks again for your support, Keli. > > > Hi Keli: > > > I can relate. Did your boob feel sloshy?
