Guest guest
Hi Hicando, Advair should help your asthma improve. For most people it works really well. Some people experience side effects that make it not the best drug for them. It is a combination of two different medicines: fluticasone, which is an inhaled steroid, and serevent, which is a long acting bronchodilator. The steroid reduces the inflammation in your lungs and the serevent helps keep your airways open and relaxed. It is the serevent that causes most of the side effects in my experience. Think of it as a long acting albuterol. It can leave some feeling shaky or jittery, have tremors or muscle cramps, and in some causes increased heart rate and elevated blood pressure (kind of like after you use your albuterol rescue inhaler). There is an entire list of possible side effects in the package insert, but those are the ones I hear most complain about. Most people have great results with it. If you have side effects, talk to the doctor and see if a different medication combination would work better for you. My son takes it and it was the difference maker for him as far as asthma control. I had to stop it after 3 days when my blood pressure was way up and I had shakiness and constant hand tremors. So just in my own family, I can see how different people's bodies react differently to drugs. I've seen lots of patients where I work take it with excellent results. Just monitor yourself and let the doctor know if it isn't working out well for you. Good luck, > > Hello all, > I have had asthma all my life. My adults years have not been bad. Guest guest
I used to get bronchitis a lot and sometimes it took longer to go away even with prednisone. The advair should help. I have been on it for years and it has helped me. I take advair 250/50 twice a day but when my asthma symptoms increase I take advair 500/50 twice a day jean ---- hicando@... wrote: > Hello all, > I have had asthma all my life. Guest guest
What kind of side effects do you have trying to switch to an inhaler? Curious because I just switched from Advair to Flovent. Advair is Flovant with an added bronchodialtor as I understand it.
