Guest guest
Dear Chuck, You're doc should have explained things a bit better in my humble opinion...Albuterol is wonderful, it's helped a lot of people avoid emergency room visits and worse...... BUT, I hope you know it is only a short term duration medication....you have to take it several times a day for it to work right. If I'm not mistaken most people are taking it (2 puffs at a time) every 4 to 6 hours...plus other emergencies ....depends on severity of asthma as well as it is a steroid. A lot of people are really bothered by steroids effects over time. Further to be properly used it's best coupled with another medication. For example usually they'll pair a steroid with something that combats bronchial closures. So one medication to enlarge clogging of bronchials and one steroid. Sorry to hear you had an attack and hope things look better for you. Hope this helps some, Noah foley wrote: I'm new to this group. At 61 I find I have been diagnosed with Ashtma. After doctor shopping, I have decided for now at least to stay with my allergist. I have been on Asmanex for a few months and it seems to work though today I got an attack. I am in otherwise excellant health. I have so many questions. During the attack I found an albuteral inhaler another doctor gave me so I used it. It lessened the symptoms but they are far from gone, was wondering how many inhalations are reccommended per dayI appreciate your answer, will read through the various posts before asking any others. Thanks Chuck Looking for last minute shopping deals? Maybe Matt can clear this one up or were you referring her to the Asthmanex Noah? Thanks ________________________________________________________________________ More new features than ever. Guest guest
Hi Chuck, Welcome to the group! You will love it here - this a really nice, friendly, helpful, positive, supportive, non- judgemental group. I hope you will see your Doctor again ASAP - sounds like you need a plan. Are you using a cromolyn inhaler after you take the albuterol? I know it doesn't work for everybody, but it has always worked well for me. Once your asthma is under control, maybe you can look into some natural supplements? Alana > > I'm new to this group.
