Hello, my name is a and I've been a member for about a

month or so but I don't know if I have actually ever posted to this

group. I am 40 years old and have been diagnosed with Stills Disease

and Fibromylia. I felt so bad when I read about the Psy Dr writing

you up for requesting Oxycontin. I have been on Oxycontin for

several years. I've never heard of Fentanyl, is that something

similar?

a,

Fentanyl is an opiod like Oxycontin delivered by way of a Duragesic

patch. The advantage is that you don't have to remember anything

about your medicines except to change the patch once every three

days. So far my biggest side effect is feeling lethargic. I had

been on some other drugs that weren't meeting the pain level and so I

mentioned trying something else like Oxycontin and my PDoc decided I

was looking for drugs, I guess. In the end, after a couple of months

of delay, they finally gave me a try.

I hope things go well with you on the Oxycontin. I've heard it is a

god-send to those in severe chronic pain.

Cheers

Hello and thank you for writing. The Dr. who diagnosed me with

Stills Disease put me on the Duragesic patch. I was like a zombie.

When I went back to my regular rheumatologist he took me off of it

and said he didn't like them because you can't control the amount of

medication your getting. Also, at the time I was on a lot of other

medications so I was just really out of it.
