Guest guest
Dear Gail, I get that cough like you're explaining ALL the time, many times it comes right after colds/flu/bronchitis/etc. After coughing uncontrollably for months (even had to quit a sales job because I couldn't talk without choking during my pitch), I had a rhuemy appt. He gave me prescription stomach stuff. Sometimes, he said, meds/food start that acid reflex and we don't realize it and it is the bile we're " trying " to cough up. I thought he was totally insane. I didn't feel like I had any stomach problems. But patronizing him I tried his free samples. Incredibly, within a day or two, the cough disappeared and as long as I take a pill/day, I have no problems. I'm still totally shocked. I've had these coughs since I had stills 8 years ago, why didn't anyone else ever give me this explanation, even him? Maybe he read a new article or got a new sales pitch from a pharmaceutical rep. Just my experience sweetie! Good luck. Carole from Hollywood FL In a message dated 11/21/2006 9:08:26 P.M. The coughing and wheezing are much better, but about 4 days ago, I started to get this stabbing pain right behind my left shoulder blade. Esp. when I cough or sneeze. It kills me, it hurts so bad! It's not pluerisy, I've had that before and this is totally different. It's not a pulled muscle, that would have gotten better. My director thinks I could have actually cracked a rib from the terrible coughing spasms I endured. Nothing helps it, not pain meds, not the heating pad, not a warm bath or my husband rubbing it. It's only gotten worse. The best I can describe it is a hot knife stabbing me in that one spot. Calling the doc tomorrow to get another xray. Anyone else ever experienced this after a chest cold/bronchitis? Thanks in advance... Gail

Guest guest
Goodness Gail, that sounds horrible. I've had an incredibly sore stomach and sides from coughing, achy muscles, but nothing like you describe. I sure hope it's not a cracked rib and I really hope you stop coughing soon. Guest guest
Just a thought, Gail. I had exactly what you describe shortly before being diagnosed with Stills, and it turned out I had whooping cough. Might want to suggest it to your Dr. They can do a test to see if you have it. Guest guest
It sounds a lot like what happens to me. I am still learning what my signs are. I do not wheeze. I do cough, get a tight throat, chest discomfort, like a pressure. Sue From: asthma [mailto:asthma ] On Behalf Of debmetsfan@... Sent: Saturday, February 23, 2008 8:45 AM To: asthma Subject: New Symptom Does anyone have a funny feeling in their chest when they breathe? This happens to me sometimes. It feels like it is in a V shape. Almost like it is sore. I can't tell if I'm wheezing or not - I think I might be a little bit. I told the doctor about it (my primary) the last time that I was there. But her really didn't say much about it. He was more concerned with the nodules on my thyroid. I get this sensation off and on - maybe every few days. Deb
Guest guest
When I am having an asthma attack I do get a strange, kind of tightness in my chest, almost like it hurts. That is why when I went to the hospital they checked me for heart problems as well. Does anyone have a funny feeling in their chest when they breathe? This happens to me sometimes. Guest guest
Sometimes I feel tightness. Sometimes I feel what almost feels like a fluttering. Other times it can be a dull or sharp pain. debmetsfan@... wrote: Does anyone have a funny feeling in their chest when they breathe? This happens to me sometimes. It feels like it is in a V shape.
