Guest guest
Hello. This is my first day on this forum, and I haven't really explored all the previous messages yet. So please forgive me if I ask somthing that has already been discussed. I'll give a little history before I ask my current question. I smoked for 29 years and quit in 1983. A year later I had my first asthma attack. I'm not sure if it was initiated by second-hand smoke or co-workers' perfumes. From that point I suffered a whole bunch. A doctor finally put me on Ventolin. It worked some but I got to hate the side effects like the racing heart. Over the years I found that strong coffee helped me over attacks. In fact I got so much better that I gave up my Ventolin. I also read about the supplement Magnesium and tried that. I found that it needed to be regulated in your system to get just the right maintenance dose. Since getting on magnesium I've had fewer attacks. But, of course, I've also tried to steer clear of triggers. That wasn't too hard at my previous residence. When smoke from neighbors drifted into my house I used air cleaners along with all the rest. Now I've moved and neighbors all around me smoke. The closest is just in the process of moving in. I dread my life from here on out. Here I am drinking my coffee, on my magnesium and struggling to breath. My question is does anyone think taking any over-the-counter meds will help me. What should I try? Must I go back to the doctor and get something new that may have been discovered while I've been off Ventolin, or must I go back to that? I look forward to your replies.
