Guest guest
I have never been tested by drs but have ended up in ER too many times to count with reactions to things! I have no health ins right now and go to a clinic who only does the minimum they have to , to keep you healthy! Once i get ins i will surely ask the drs about the tests! In the meantime i will read up onit and educate myself on this! Thanks for the info! Terpenes can be highly allergenic (the odor of the plant) A new online friend who is on a pets list with me and lives in Finnland told me they found out that all Finns cannot eat any vegetables as they didn't eat them for centuries and their bodies cannot tolerate them. She sent me a very interesting link about their genetics. I have long felt that my genes must be largely Nordic too. I have an asthmatic cousin who cannot eat any fruits at all. I used to think it was the pesticides. I knew they are deadly for me but then I found out I am allergic to terpenes which is the odor of the plant!!!! An EI doctor explained this to me. Some terpenes are naturally more dangerous than other terpenes. One of the most dangerous ones is: lilac!! The allergist also told me never to eat a tomato but I can about once a year. The worst thing for me is corn which is in everything. They even spray it on the inside of a can. If you read Dr. D'Adamo books they can help some. I have reached the point where I can have an apple again the fall but I have to be very careful. I was hospitalized for 3 days long ago due to aspirin and many fruits contain aspirin in the form of salicylates. The Finns eat a special type of yogurt. Marja sent me a link to read about their yogurt. I can have a little yogurt now and again but it MUST BE ROTATED. Food rotated is critical. A lab in FL sent me a big spread sheet so I can watch my food rotation more carefully. It was the Immuno Lab down there was does blood work with foods. My last testing was $300.00, however, I still think the RAST test is better. I sure feel for you Carol. Glad I can still have a few. Have you been tested for celiac? Guest guest
My daughter (8) is allergic to all the local tree fruits (peaches, pears, apples, apricots). She breaks out in hives all over her face, lips swell, eyes swell shut. Just awful. The apples are a huge pain because almost every juice on the planet has apple in it. We went on a field trip yesterday (I went with her) and they gave all the kids dried apples as a treat which sucked for her. I worry a lot about this one because almonds are in the same family as these fruits and I'm afraid its giong to turn into a nut allergy too. catelyn > Im allergic to ALL fruits! I know how you feel! Guest guest
Hi Catelyn, I fear that will happen too. They told me I would outgrow everything but I never did. It just got worse and worse and I have no idea why. About ten years ago I learned that the good quality vitamin C's can stop the food reactions. I started out with only a couple as a child but now have over 30 food allergies. I had a telephone friend who reached the point with her environmental illness that she was only able to eat broccoli, organic goat from a special butcher and 3 oils. Of course she was starving. I am horribly allergic to almonds. They once caused me to end up in the hospital. (also another time it was aspirin) they are related somehow. If you are near NM I know of an EI pediatrician there who might stop this process. There is one theory that this is caused by leaky gut syndrome due to candida overgrowth but personally I don't really believe this altho I have quite a few friends who do. I have been told about 2 years ago that I am IgA deficient. Even tho I now know this it doesn't make much difference. If your daughter is celiac then it could make a difference to get her off gluten. This area seems to be a whole new field that is just opening up. You might want to read Celiac Disease: A Hidden Epidemic. Please let me know what you learn. I dread to become like Lou who couldn't eat anything. Baffled too, Alice nawiliwili_k wrote: My daughter (8) is allergic to all the local tree fruits (peaches, pears, apples, apricots). Guest guest
We're canadian so really far from NM I'm taking her for allergy testing on thrusday. I have to figure out what this is. The first allergist last year said it was OAS but our new family doc says you dont' get hives from OAS and has sent us to a new allergist. Ho hum. catelyn > My daughter (8) is allergic to all the local tree fruits (peaches, > pears, apples, apricots). She breaks out in hives all over her face, > lips swell, eyes swell shut. Just awful.
