Becky - I have had GERD since before it had a name. I used to live on Tums, Rolaids and Alka-Seltzer. I have been taking acid inhibitors since 1998. I have been taking Nexium for about three years now and so far, that seems to work the best. I still eat Tums, when I eat something exceptionally spicy or fried.

I am so confused about allergies. I was negative for any pollen, seasonal allergens and dust. However, dust will make my nose runny and make me cough. I really think season allergens have something to do with my problem right now. I live in South Jersey and everyone is complaining about their allergies, so I am thinking I must be reacting to seasonal allergens as well.

acid reflux and asthma

Hi group,I went to regualar dr. today. after 5 years of thinking I was having drainage from my nose.Seeing an allergist, he have me Antihistmines and they were doing nothing. And dr. thinks I have acid reflux. Acid comming up to my throat and causing throat clearing, and chest tightness. Well with no pain in the stomach and no heartburn I assumed it was allergy / asthma realted. But has anyone that has asthma also have acid reflux? If you do what are you taking to control it.? He put me on OTC prilosec. for 1 month.Tired of clearing my throat, and the soreness it brings.Becky

yes. When my new doctor found out I had asthma one of the first things that she asked me was if I had heartburn. She put me on prilosec. They had a brochure in the office about it so it apparently is a pretty common conection.abbj2002 wrote: Hi group,I went to regualar dr. today. after 5 years of thinking I was having drainage from my nose.Seeing an allergist, he have me Antihistmines and they were doing nothing. When my son was a baby, he was diagnosed with acid reflux and asthma. He had to have cerial in his formula and couldn't have any juice or water, anything that was too liquidy like that. He is now 11.

My daughter is 18 and she was diagnosed with Asthma

too but she refuses to believe it. I had to take her to the ER 3 times with the last cold she had. She refuses to take her meds until she is very bad off. She even refuses to carry any meds with her and ends up having to use mine in the store of something. She walks around panting

and says she's just conjested. She is allergic to Sulfate and Sulfa so she breaks out with Albuterol. What is an alternative for it? I see someone is taking Xopenex and Pulmicort. Are these in place of Albuterol and Ipratropium? Are there any others?

I have Asthma too. I have it the worst of all of us. Last Summer I thought I was cured with honey and green tea but the Asthma came back in January. I was put on steroids about 15 months ago but part of Spring, Summer, and Fall, I don't have to take steroids. So, I take it the cold weather is what affects me. What else could it be?

I am off the steroids since it warmed up last weekend.
