Guest guest
It takes 6-8 weeks for changes to effect lab levels. Although some people have labs every 4 weeks. I cannot comment on how much to increase as I am naturally hyperT. And therefore do not have any experience with replacement thyroid drugs. But I would say you are on the low side and need an increase. Keep in mind that if you increase on your own you will run out of pills sooner than prescribed. And you may not be able to get any more without your drs approval before you are able to refill again. If your dr will not work with you, you might need to find another dr. Hope this helps, Kim M. Guest guest
Nil, your ft3 looks really low to me (it's at 18% of the lab range, and most need it at 50% or higher to feel well). You're doc is at least running ft3, but please refresh my memory, is she opposed to rx'ing t3? You oldtimers, you know I'm still learning my way thru all of this, so please correct me if I'm way off here, or if I worded this incorrectly...that's the only way I'll continue to learn! > > My latest lab results are as follows: > TSH .24 > FT3: 264 Range: 230-420 > FT4: 1.3 Range: .8 - 1.8 > > I am on 125 mcg levoxyl. Guest guest
I think you need to find another doc to manage your thyroid levels. I am not exactly sure where you live, but another one of our members had very good care from Dr. Gonino in Rowlett. Or else, go back to Dr. Launius. bhootnath_nil wrote: My latest lab results are as follows:TSH .24FT3: 264 Range: 230-420FT4: 1.3 Range: .8 - 1.8I am on 125 mcg levoxyl. That is, after how many weeks, I can re-test the levels to get accurate picture.I would really appreciate any help/opinion on this. Thanks,Nil Yahoo! Mail - Helps protect you from nasty viruses. Guest guest
To me it looks like you have a conversion problem. Your body is taking the T4 (levoxyl) but not converting it to T3. Can you ask your Dr if she/he will lower your Levoxyl and start you on some Cytomel (T3)? Otherwise, like Jan said, you will need to find a Dr that will recognize your conversion problem. I had the same problem, and now feel much better on the combination of drugs. Much, much more energy. Good luck Lynn At 04:48 PM 2/8/2006, you wrote: >My latest lab results are as follows: >TSH .24 >FT3: 264 Range: 230-420 >FT4: 1.3 Range: .8 - 1.8 > >I am on 125 mcg levoxyl. Guest guest
Thank you all for taking time to reply to my post. Actually I don't have any option left other than taking the matters in my own hands(I have some extra T4 med which I can use). Again I would appreciate your help and opinions about my plan which is as follows: I am pregnant(due in end of aug) so my goal is to get enough thyroid hormones for the fetus now(I will worry about my health later). I have read that during pregnancy, fetus takes T4 from mother's blood and converts it to T3 on its own, so FT3 values may not be as critical(for the fetus). Please let me know if this is not correct.(I would highly appreciate if someone can direct me to some literature on the subject. Not much is available online). So my plan is to increase T4 from 125 to 150. I will watch closely for hyper related symptoms. will be tested again in 8 weeks. So I would know where my FT4 stands. I think that should take care of the fetus' needs for now. Actually I am thinking out loud here and would really appreciate thoughts/opinions on this. Guest guest
There was a thread on the mediboards.com thyroid message board recently about pregnancy and thyroid issues. You might check it out. I believe you can read the posts even if you aren't a member. Either way I think you need to keep being watched by a dr.
