Be patient,it will work, I used to have sinus attacks all the time, I'd be

getting that dry cough, (esp. on the bus where everyone looks at you as if you

have TB)..but it did turn out to be sinusitis. Now the dr. has done some

extensive testing and found that I was and am having migraine headaches as a

migraine can hide itlself to look at sinus.

chronic throat pain

>

>Hi to all,

>I am new to the group. I hope I am in the right place. For some time now (about

2 years) I have suffered from mostly chronic pain in my throat. It feels like a

sore throat ALL the time. I have been to GI doctors who have treated me for

acid reflux. But finally when I took some very invasive tests (24 hour ph,

manometry), they found NOTHING. They say I do not show anything refluxing up.

Hi , I understand the throat problem because I also suffer that

problem. I have found some tricks that help me some with it. And yes

there seems to be for me no real answer either so they treat me for

gerd and when it gets so bad my throat swell almost shut I get a

steroid shot to open it back up. I have problems with speech at times

do to this and of course the nagging sore throat is a nightmare.

While it may or may not be gerd or a combo of fibro/gerd and some

thing else I have not a clue I have found it still helps me to

monotor my diet and what I eat. I have been for example a diet coke

addict for years (actuially seance a baby lol) but coke also adds to

other health problems I have struggled with like UTI's so I have

limited my self to one diet coke a day (it was hard to do still some

times fall off the wagon lol). ANd I drink mostly water all the time

and it helps some. Matter of fact because of the help from testing

taken variouse foods out of my diet I am no longer taken the meds for

gerd so the docs can't say that is the problem. But yes the problem

is still there but not as out of control as it was. I think if you

could find ways to eliminate things from your diet that may aggravate

your throat and change eating patterns and such it can help you to

figure some of whats going on to speak to the doc more. Keep a

journel of the things you try but go slowly one at a time and spend a

little time and write it down before you go on to adding another

thing to try. I have learned with Fibro things can be some

complicated for us it is so very hard to know just how to talk to the

doctor and then you are both confused. Been there done that still

struggle with that. I hope this helps some. I am free any time you

need help my friend and welcome to the board. We all here try to help

each other best we can because we know how bad this illness is

because we live with fibro and its kin the monsters who lerk. SO

these are the best people to understand because we suffer as you do

with this fibromyalgia.

Hi , Sylvia, and rest...

Yes, when I get migraines it effects my sinus's. Make them swell up and all

that...once the migraine is over I get allot of drainage. I use Simply Saline

sinus spray from CVS, and it helps. Ice on the sinus's helps also.

Hi all,

I mentioned this before, but want to add it again. I drink bottled water as the

chlorine tears my stomach up. We are so sensitive to all these chemicals, if it

helps anyone, great,

Thanks

hi and welcome!

I'm sorry if it's already been said in this thread (it's not a good

processing day for me it seems), but sore throat is a very common

symptom of CFS. In fact if I understand it right it's one of the few

that can be used diagnostically to differentiate between FM and CFS.

I know I've had a sore throat for ages, and it is very yucky (now

that's an official medical term, I'm sure!).

Taking antihistamines helps me sometimes (my doc says the sore throat

can come from post nasal drip during sleep). I also find Thayers

slippery elm lozenges (sold in health food stores and online) very

soothing for both sore throat and dry mouth (which I have as a side

effect of some meds).

best,

tereza

Hi - I live in St. Louis and we've been outta power for a week, so someone may

have already answered with this, but I get a sore throat also. Sometimes it is

Really itchy and wish I could just scratch there. If I start to get that white

film, I would just double up on my Acidophilus. I take 48 billion every morning

before food, and it keeps me much itchy free. I still get a sore or swollen

throat occasionally, but for the itchies - just keeping the bacteria in check

has helped me.

Gee, thanks so much for everyone's responses to the sore throat pain.

Forgive me Tereza but what does CFS and FM stand for?
