Guest guest
Hi All, I've just found & joined the group. I had my band done in March & have had 2 adjustments so far (2ml total now). I've been trying to find a solution to not being able to keep anything down in the mornings. I did really well with my weight loss before & after the surgery. Unfortunately lately I'm now finding I'm giving in to temptation too often. I can't resist the urge to buy ( & eat) Redskins & Red Licorice (my favourite sugary treats). I bought some of the sugarfree ones, but ended up eating all of them in a day or two. I just can't have them in the house. It appears that I can't do toast before midday. I tried Fruit Loaf today & had a not-very-nice experience (PB I think it's called). Still feel a little sore inside. I'm new at this bit (but don't intend going here again if I can help it), does anybody out there want to share how long you should wait before having something to eat? I really worry about getting enough nutrition, even though my surgeon says it's ok to skip breakfast. I was considering an Optifast soup for lunch... Guest guest
HiyaI dont eat in the morning - never happens for me until about 10.30 at the earliest, even then it starts with something to drink and then I might ease into food. I just dont bother with eating in the morning - no point putting myself thru the pain. If you are not hungry then dont eat - simple as that, you wont starve, because you will make it up in the day when you do eat. I often have a Tony Ferguson soup for morning tea/ lunch, I have that so I know I am getting some nutrients and its a tasty easy to consume thing, and it kicks off the eating. I find that after lunch then its easier to tackle things like cruskits with pate etc... I am making myself hungry now and so I might have to go and have another cruskit. Oh and I graze all day - bad in some respects when you think you are not able to keep track of the amounts you are eating, but I have 6 cruskits here, a pot of pate and keep track of how much I am eating that way. I guess at the end of the day I am just saying - listen to what your body is saying, if you are hungry eat, if not then dont. And when you are hungry, go for protein - can of tuna, meat etc... they will fill you up and you are less likely to be tempted by sugary treats. I can now - with my level of restriction - keep naughty things in the house and they dont really tempt me, I have two blocks of Lindt, some m & m peanuts and a bueno in my fridge and I am not bothered by them. Plus I like my chocolate at room temp, so straight out of the fridge is not tempting and I dont bother with them. Think of the $$ you are saving by not buying them... more money to put towards your new wardrobe - always a great incentive methinks. Guest guest
Hello, We're all different. Some people on here are lucky to get down a glass of diet lemon cordial in the AM. I on the other hand have a piece of toast with a poached egg most mornings. (I'm lucky) Morning is no problem for me, however I struggle at dinner time. Take you're time, you'll find YOUR way. Also, after I PB I try to stick to liquids for the rest of the day, just to give my tummy time to recoup.... Hope this helps a little Fi
Guest guest
Hi there... Yes, same old story for most of us. that is why I call it the magical mystery band. Some days will, some days won't... Sunday, liquids fine, solids were an absolute no go (found out at the pub!). You will slowly find out what works and what doesn't... and it will all depend on your level of restriction as to what you will be able to tolerate. I cannot do bread at all these days - but sometimes I can manage a crumpet well cooked as long as it is very hot. Its the same for all of us, so hang in there and I am sure it will all work out well for you. Mel >> Hi All,> I've just found & joined the group. Guest guest
It's great to get some other perspectives. It's nice to feel ok about not eating breakfast. I had the Optifast for lunch, it was a good idea. I might try some Tony Ferguson, my boss was on it for a while and it's not too bad. I was on Dr Macleod for a while a few years ago, but since they had to change the formula (had to add some kind of oil or fat or something) it lost the characteristics that I liked. I hadn't thought about days being different, guess I assumed every day would be the same...but you're right. Some days I am hungrier or more able to eat lots of stuff than others. Thank you all for your advice, it helps to know you're not alone. Cheers Becka PS(for those who may be curious, Nevl's an old alias, I just haven't thought of a better e-mail address yet)
