Guest guest
Hello everyone, (Wanted to share this bit...) I just posted the same pix..of my duo and our 4WD..to one of my batchmate,BPT...and he called me..up back....and this is how the mini conversation..between us, took place... " BPT--Hi,Kamath,photo dekha.. Shyam-Thanx.. BPT---Teri Aaadat nahi gayi..lagta hain..ab bhi.. Shyam-Kaunsi..Bhai??!! BPT----Imported Gaadiyon ke saamne photos keechne ki..Yaad hain..hum sab jab Delhi trip kiye..Internship mein, gaye the sab group,..to hum sab log ne...apni sab photos..Foreign cars ke samne khadi ho ke kheechi thi, chahe woh India Gate ya Qutub Minar..ya Red Fort ke saamne ho.. BhaiShyam, ab to bude ho gaye ho yaar.. Ab bhi to yeh Shoukh mat rakho(laughingly) Shyam-Bhai mere...Woh Gaadi Doosre ki nahi..Meri hain..jiske liye se maine tumhe photo bheja... Shyam-Hello!!,Hello!!..(Silence) " Such simpleton..r we, folks..of '84 batch.. Been like that...from day 1. Never dreamt..we would be so..... Materialistic. Simple Living High Thinking....has been there always.... On an ending note...comparing the Am-ri-can Gaddis..with Japanese Cars..has made me come out with one very startling revelation.. The Am-ri-can gaddis...till such a time..u don't belt ur self up..keeps chiming....and once that is done..the next chime..a very sweet cooing one,..is when the car races..to 120kms/hr..JUST ONCE..(Signifying,I thought,..in true yanky style...WELL DONE..PARDNER...MOVE ON..GO HIGHER)... AND FRANKLY...never minds..if u race to 200kms/hr speed limit.. While the Jap cars..just shows..a red blinking sign..to fasten the seat belt at the start..but once u race..any car..of their make..above 120kms/hr...it starts...chimming endlessly, till u return back under 120..probably the Jap style..of keeping u safe... Guest guest
Ah, finally someone on the group who shares a similar passion to cars. The debate between American Cars and Japanese cars is an old one. While American cars provide a lot of comforts even for the basic models, and their designs are more comfortable, leisurely and better than Japanese cars. However, nothing can compare to the fuel economy, reliability and resale value of Japanese cars. It is common knowledge, that once an American Car crosses the 100,000 mile mark, then it can die on you anytime, but Japanese cars can go on for even as long as 150 K miles. Which car do you prefer.......depends on your own personal priorities and preferences. More on the topic in a longer E-mail later on. Shyam sir, You have a sexy looking SUV there...!!! Is that a Dodge Durango ? What are the specs? V6 or V8... well, the mileage must be immaterial in Saudi, since you have " petrol ki ganga " flowing in that country... and by the way.. why the 4WD? It doesnt snow there at all.... and I think Saudi has amazing roads.... well, you can take your car for a " desert safari " and its a whole different story. In the US, the North American Car show is on in Detroit this time of the year.. I make plans to go there every year and somehow, the plan gets cancelled. Every year, all the automakers put out some great concept cars and some great new vehicle launches. Will be exciting to see whats new this year. Speaking of new cars, I was floored when I read about the Tata Nano... smart business move.... this will go in the business texts in the years to come... and the design is pretty decent too. I have to say, that people in the middle east and here in the US, prefer Biiiiiiiiiig cars. when I see european cars designed for europe, I find them so boxy and small, I feel claustrophobic in them. But then, they are good for places where parking is a problem and there are small roads with lots of vehicles... here, we dont have that problem. More on American cars later. Till later, ciao and dont forget to wear that seat belt...!! Ameet 1993
Guest guest
Shyam and Ameet, I deal with another car and football fan every day of my life. I find them both boring, but still provide a patient ear to all his enthusiastic chatter. He is so considerate as to put his auto magazines in his office for the dads who bring their children. Guest guest
Does cricket computers and music count too!! Here we are watching Australian times of cricket in the middle of the night in England-and what we missed has to be seen as highlights the next day!God alone knows when he sleeps!! Computers is such a passion even my IT cousins ring Atul up for advice. And music-if I had the room I would have a band in the house. My home has guitars,a piano, keyboards, tabla and a drum kitand the very latest is a saxophone. He has tried his hand at all of them and if time permitted would spend all day practising! .Atul is music crazy and will spend hours listening-has an enviable cd collection. Is it any surprise then that I have only enough money left over to drive a cheap and cheerful Skoda. 82 To: mgims@...: ravindas@...: Thu, 17 Jan 2008 10:47:17 +0530Subject: Re: The 4WD story....
