Precocious Puberty

Hi, all.

Haven't posted in awhile, but I am freaked out because Teddy (age 7 3/4, with

bilateral perisylvian polymicrogyria) has a few pubic hairs (not fuzz, but dark

and curly) on his scrotum. Also, Teddy has had body odor for over a year, and

needs to use deoderant. I looked it up online and it said signs of puberty in

boys younger than nine is considered precocious (premature) puberty. It also

said that, if untreated, premature puberty can result in children not attaining

their full height, since they have their growth spurt earlier that they would

normally. Premature puberty is more common in children with abnormal brain

structure.

So, once again I come to the experts to see if anyone else has faced this

problem. I've made an appointment with our family doctor (thankfully for after

Christmas!) to see what he thinks. I can't believe we may have to add another

specialist to our list of doctor " friends. "
