Guest guest
, I don't know what you are going through, but I can imagine. My heart hurts for you. The night I read your message, I prayed so much, I asked God to fill your house and Daire's room with angels. Since then you have been in my thoughts. Someone once told me that the parents of kids with special needs are also special parents and I am sure you are doing everything you can. If you don't hear back from Medra by tomorrow, let me know and I will call the California Lab and try to get as many aswers as I can for you. I am from Brazil and I know that sometimes hospitals can be a challenge... There are several supplements that are considered food that you can give your child to help the immune system, they will not hurt, they are food. I read a book called In Search for Manna, the authors are two Drs. and they clearly state that there is no disease, no condition inside or outside the hospital that will not improve with proper nutrition. I have also ordered a book called Nutrition Against Disease (it was written in 1971, so it is out of print) where the statement is the same. There is another book called What your Dr does not know may be killing you, and The Crazy Makers, by Carol Simontacchi, they all state the same. The point is: There is no money for the pharmaceutical companies in supplements and if everybody is able to improve their health through proper nutrition, how will they keep their profits the way they are nowadays. Regular Drs. are not taught enough about nutrition in medical school, in fact there is a widely used book in med schools in the US called Harper's Byochemistry Guide that has dedicated one chapter to the study of Glyconutrients, unfortunatelly only the doctor that graduated about two years ago were able to study this chapter. Nutrition is also mentioned on Acta Anatomica (another medical book). There is a very potent type of antioxidants called phytoantioxidants (derived from plants) that are the only antioxidants able to cross the brain barrier and protect our brain cells from free radical damage, OPCs help with fine motor skills... Our kids don't eat everything they need, therefore they are not getting the nutrition they need. I do not recall ADHD in kids when I was a kid, of course there were the " terrible " kids then, but there were not prescribed ritalin... juvenile diabetes, cholesterol etc in kids? Not existant then. Our diets are to blaim. Have you ever tried supplements? Have you ever seen the movie Lorenzo's oil? It is a true story. The results vary from person to person with nutrition, and nutrition is not a replacement for medical treatment, it complements it. There are so many cancer patients that are undergoing chemo that use powerful antioxidants that help them protect their healthy cell from the harmfull effects that chemo has. Maybe if you try to support and improve Daire's immune system you will be able to seek other treatments. I am sorry if sometimes I talk too much about nutrition, however I have seen a lot of improvement in my son's (in fact my entire family) with some supplements that I can't stay quiet. The most important thing to understand is that they are not medicine and they will not act as fast as medicine, you have to be very consistent and persistent and adjust the dosage until you see improvement. I am sorry if I went a little too long again... God Bless you and give you strenght and guidance.
