Guest guest
Hi Sue, Your body will only take what it can use and dispose of extra vitamins so no one can tell you exactly what is too much. For example the daily recommended allowance of Vitamin C is just enough to prevent scurvy but if you want the healing benefits, you will need to take much more. Your body will eliminate almost all of it but it will act while in body. If a vitamin is in it's natural form, there are thousands of phyto nutrients in with it and will make it work more effectively. It makes almost no sense to isolate one out of 20000 of these phyto-nutrients and use it alone. At times the body will become depleted of one though and then short term supplementation will work. Most people do not even digest pills and they are literally flushed down the toilet. To get back to the vitamin C now. I used to buy big boxes of oranges and drink a glass of orange juice every day. No one in my family ever had a cold when we did this. Taking vitamin C alone, which I had also done in the past does not acheive this. Whatever else is in the orange along with the Vitamin C makes it more potent. In severe cases IV vitamins such as B & C may make a difference. In Germany it is not uncommon to see elderly people hooked up to their IVs in the doctor's office, getting their vitamins. People with bi- polar burn up tremendous amounts of B vitamins and need supplementation. Natural juices are always better for everyday supplementation as they are absorbed better even by those with bowel problems. I've experimented quite a bit with various juices, supplements, juice fasting, etc. I think making a green smoothie every day (more times a day if you can) is one of the easiest and most effective ways to get fiber, vitamins and minerals all together in one easy meal. Just blend 60% fruit and 40% greens of your choice, preferably organic. Sharo > > Does anyone know of a site that tells the maximum allowable of each > vitamin?
