Guest guest
Have you ever looked into homeopathic remedies. I'm not sure of prescription meds would interfere with them though. My daughter (6yrs), who doesn't have pmg, was running a high fever for about a week while being treated with antibiotics for strep throat/tonsillitas. Ibuprofen and tylenol would bring the temp. down but it would go right back up (as high as 104) when it would start to wear off. Then I read an article about homeopathy for kids and it gave suggestions for remedies for fevers and tonsillitas. I was desperate to get her fever to stay down and her throat to clear up since the meds weren't working. I tried belladonna for the fever and within an hour of taking it her fever went from 101 to 98.6 and stayed down! She took calcerea carbonaca for the sore throat and after 3 doses across two days her throat is now back to normal (although improvements were seen within just 4 hours!). I used to be skeptical about alternative treatments, but now I'm convinced homeopathic remedies can and do work so we'll try these as our first line of defense against future illness. If it's obviously something serious, or potentially serious - like lower right side pain, that could indicate appendicitis - we'd take her to the doctor first. From the pamphlets I've read so far, it looks like there are homeopathic remedies for several ailments. developmental therapist/EI --- dairewendy wrote: > Hi all > Well things arent going well, he's asleep most of > today inc in school. > I had to take him home at which point his temp was > 102. Guest guest
Hi All Well after trying an failing to keep Daires temp under control, I brought him to Childrens Hospital (where he's to have his surgerys in a few weeks). They took a throat swab, bloods, gave him Calpol and sat us back in a cold waiting room, so not suprisingly he got colder and temp came down, at which point they sent us home (within 3 hours). They diagnosed it as a simple uppper respitory infection. Keep him on Paracetamol and Ibuprofen, it should settle by Friday. Well today Friday, I get a call from hospital to say he has a severe bacterial infection which has shown up in the swab results, and in his blood cultures. They apologised that they had sent us home with him in this state on Wednesday night. Told me that they had a prescription ready for us to pick up, advised us to do this asap. (Hospital 50 miles away). I asked if it could be faxed down to local chemist and that I would pick up original over weekend. They decided to agree to this, after I explained Daire still was not well that temps were still out of control. He is now on Phenoxymethylpenicillin Calcium @ 2.5mls four times a day for 10 days, which I hope starts to work quickly, as hes miserable, though he's slept alot today which will help him fight the infection. As Daire is peg fed I asked our GP to do a house call and collect swab from this area as it seems to hurt him every time I touch it. Wont have results until Monday. He's not had a break since October. This is the third medication he's been on, the other two were Augmentin Duo. I just hope he keeps well enough to have the operation on the 12th February. Guest guest
Good grief, !! You must all be exhausted. It sound as if Daire's immune system needs a break and a boost: maybe some time with no pathogens to fight and then time to recover from the awful fall and winter he's had. That you've *all* had. Hope this series of meds does the trick for him. I remember how hopeful you sounded with the new feeding regimen. These setbacks are horrid. Wishing you blessings and some rest, mom to
