I was wondering if most families on this site have nursing help?

We have hired someone to watch at night (5 nights a week) so we

can sleep! Since we don't qualify for Medicaid (in Missouri) we pay on

our own!

Sincerely,

Hi All,

I would lov this for Daire, but Ireland do not provide this service for

its Special Needs Children. Daire needs as Ive said before specialised

equipment but can't get this either.

I feel that Daire and children like him deserve home nursing especially

when they are sick like Daire has been for mearly 4 months.

My home support (someone to mind child for few hours in the home) I had

was done by a 70 year old woman who couldnt lift or handle Daire

properly e.g. put on his coat. She was never able to work his feeding

machine, or do his Physio with him. So I rang up her boss and told her

that I needed someone more suitable, that was 2 years ago and I've had

no one since.

I have home help (someone who helps with housework)I was told it would

last for the length of the build, which finished in August. She comes

for 3 hours 1 day a week and does some ironing = makes it last for 3

hours. But I'm afraid to rock the boat with this as I may loose it

entirely and it's one less thing I need to do in the house.

They offered us respite 20 miles away from our home, but after the

sudden death of Daires " Girlfriend " last Thursday, I don't want to let

him out of our sight.

He is to go for the Hamsting operation in just over 3 weeks - after

which he'll be in a body cast for 6 weeks and still there is no mention

of home care. They don't even know how I'll get him home in the car.
