I posted earlier in the month about my son possibly having his first

seizure, well he had another small one on Thursday so I decided it

was time to call the neurologist again and alert the school etc. We

had an appt with the neurologist today and I described the first one

and he said that it was definitley a seizure and did I want to put

him on any medication, well I told him that I think he had a 2nd one

on Thursday and he said that we should put him on something. So he

prescribed Trilepital (sp?) starting at 1.25mg at night for a week,

then increasing the dose and times per day. Well we went to the

pharmacy and we would have a $25 copay so I asked the pharmacist to

see if the dr. will prescribe something else that our secondary

insurance Medi-cal will cover because money is really tight right

now and $25 a month is a big chunk for us. So I was just wondering

what experiences anyone has had with Trilepital or Tegratol? And

does anyone know if absence seizures usually turn into generalized

tonic clonic seizures or could this be the only type of seizure he

ever has? I know seizures can be pretty tricky but just wondering if

any others on this journey have some insight to share.

Thanks

mom to Evan BPP, left hemiplegia, seizures 3yrs old.
