Guest guest
Hi everyone, I wanted to pass on some information. I am from Brazil (however I live in the US), during a recent visit to my parents I took my son to two major teaching hospitals in Brazil, one to see a Neurologist specialized in Perisylvian Syndrome (she studied in the US and the majority of the articles you can find on Pub Med have her contribution, her Name is Dr. Marilisa Guerreiro) and the second one is a Speech Pathologist that works in conjunction with Dr. Guerreiro on her Perisylvian Sindrome/PMG Patients. Please don't take me wrong, I know we have great Doctors in the US, however I am always searching for new perspectives. The Speech Pathologist mentioned about a Concept called Castillo Morales, which from my research is widely used in Europe and South America for Down Syndrome Patients, however during my research I found that this concept includes a stimulating plate (orthodontist appliance) that is supposed to help with several of our kid's difficulties including orofacial hipotonia, drooling, speech development, sucking, etc. Here is a link to some interesting articles on Pub Med. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/1828445?ordinalpos=1 & itool=EntrezSystem2.PEnt\ rez.Pubmed.Pubmed_ResultsPanel.Pubmed_DiscoveryPanel.Pubmed_Discovery_RA & linkpos\ =2 & log$=relatedarticles & logdbfrom=pubmed And here is another website if you are interested in learning more: http://www.rcmorales.com.ar/rcm/publicaciones/tratamiento.php Has anyone ever tried this? We tried the tongue crib with and have seen no results. However I know there is a similar appliance in the US called " The blue Grass Appliance " , however the Castillo Morales plate seems more interesting to me because it changes the position of the bead on every appt to stimulate different parts of the mouth and tongue. Please let me know if you have ever heard/tried this. Deborah Subject: Re: Drooling Therapy - it is working!
