My son Gage uses Benik splints and I have been pleased with them.   He got them

when he was 10 months old and within just a month of wearing them, I saw a

difference in  him being able to use in thumb and not always keeping it pulled

tight when he did not have them on.  I did make the mistake by not using them as

reguarly when I thought that he was using his thumbs better.  They then started

getting tight again and had to start all over.  If you get them, I would suggest

getting a couple of pairs because babies get them dirty quickly (drool, milk,

etc)!  Hope this helps.

I was wondering if anyone has used Benik, Joe Cool, or McKie thumb

splints? My daughter's OT and I are looking for ideas to help keep

her thumb in a better position. Thanks for any feedback!

We were fortunate in that when my daughter was going through this time

her OT was very knowledgable in splinting and made splints for my

daughter and since they were made out of the hard plastic we didn't

have to worry about how to keep them clean. The other great thing

about them is that they just wrapped around the back of her hand and

with a heat gun could be adjusted for the right fit. They didn't

affect the use of her hands at all and were fitted just right, which

was a huge plus because her hands were so tiny.

It might be worth looking to seeing if someone in the therapy dept

could make them for you.
