Guest guest
Hi Everyone, Lots of turmoil in my life currently, so it's been a while since I have looked at the board messages. About a year ago, my daughters' anxiety level was really peaking. She was eight and getting so frustrated in class that she started slapping kids who annoyed her by sitting next to her. I was shocked and really nervous that this would get her kicked out of class. Long story short, I found a local Chinese herbalist and acupuncturist that had previously studied and practiced in China for many years. She has been giving my daughter herbs that I boil into a tea. The tea keeps her calm and helps her sleep at night. She still needs Melatonin to get her to sleep, but the tea she has daily helps her stay asleep. And the acupuncture helps her digestion and emotions. Done correctly, the needles don't cause pain. She has them on top of her forearm and hand. And very recently, the doctor has done the inside of her forearm, because there are specific points for speech. We have only done these two times so far, but I will let you all know how it goes in the future if you're interested. My daughters' calmness has allowed her to attend a more advanced (public school) class for autistic kids. Most all the kids in her current class talk which is great for her to be around. The staff tells me that my daughter is the est worker in the class. I attribute it in large part to her calmer state of mind. That and the fact that she's a GREAT KID!! Hope this helps. Guest guest
I have also wanted to add for awhile that Jin Shin seems to help my daughter and other kids (and me too !) It is a type of high touch acupressure. No needles just touching. The clinic where my kids get OT also offers this and they have trainings for the parents. I have also done it on my parents and sister in law and they all felt it was helpful. Not Sameness, what's helping my daughter now. Guest guest
That reminds me...my mom is a massage and Bowen therapist...she wanted to know if I knew anyone who had tried Bowen therapy for their ASD kids, or if that was something people might be interested in. http://www.bowentherapy.com/ Anyway, you all know I'm a skeptic when it comes to this sort of thing, but so is my mom and she swears it works, even though she didn't believe it when she started taking the classes for it. She used to get weekly or biweekly migraines, but since she learned Bowen, she has eliminated 90% of her headaches, which is pretty amazing. Anyway, just wanted to throw that out there, and if anyone is in the Atlanta, GA area and wants to let my mom try to treat their kids, let me know, lol.Not as an " autism " treatment, but for specific health issues like digestive problems etc. Amnesty > > I have also wanted to add for awhile that Jin Shin seems to help my daughter and other kids (and me too !) Guest guest
That is great to hear somebody mention Jin Shin. I have been studying it for a while now. I bought myself books on it originally to help myself years before I ever even found out about autism in my life or had even heard of autism. I have had terrible hip and tail bone problems and had to have a chiropracter stick his finger up my backside and rebreak my tail bone and set it back into place. The pain I had been experiencing finally ceased from that proceedure and though most feel pain when they think of that happening to them, when you were in as much pain as I had been, that was the best feeling of relief other than finally having your baby out after delivery that I can explain. ANyhow, I got sidetracked ... this chiropractor also practised Jin Shin and he told me about it and though I did not have any money to pay him to preform it on me more than once, it defiantely made a difference from the one time he did it on me, so he taught me a few techniques and sold me a book on it. And so for years I have been self teaching myself to do Jin Shin. I have found online classes for free, I have found books in libraries etc. and have had great success with it. I know I would have far better success if I dedicated more time to it, but for every effort I have put in to it, I have gotten out of it. When my had a fever of 105*F and the ER sent me home after giving her both the Max dosage of Tylenol and Ibuprofen and they said that was all they could do. My husband and I waited and waited and the medacine did not work. Her fever raged through the night and I was terrified that she would have brain damage or die or something. I hadn't done Jin shin in a very long time, but a prompting came to me to get my book. My hubby searched for it and found it and we found the directions for fevers. I placed my hands on her shoulder blades and held her and within 15 minutes the fever went down to 99*F I held her and set her down so she could sleep and then said a prayer of gratitude. Then my husband being skeptical, said, " Ah the medicine finally kicked in, it had nothing to do with that wacky stuff " . Just then our daughter began having a seizure and shaking and we checked her fever and it had gone back up to 106 this time. Not having time to discuss who was right or wrong, my husband said, " alright try your voodoo magic, anything to make her better " I held her and put my hands on her shoulder blades again and again within 15-20 minutes the fever was cack down to 99*F. He looked at me in amazement and said outloud, " Ok God, I believe! " The only thing is, every time I let go, her fever shot right back up. SO I held her all through the night with my arms on her shoulderblades. I didn't get an ounce of sleep and it seemed like the longest night. Just as I finally dozed off at about 7am. I felt her squiggle out from under me. I sat up and opened my eyes and she was as bright and chipper as ever and running around the room getting into stuff as usual, and her temperature was back to her typically low 96*F. I had never been so happy to have my child destroying my house and up so early when I hadn't gotten any rest. But, it worked. I attribute many experiences like that since then to Jin Shin and God leading me to finding it. I need to get back into it again. It has been a while, but I was able to control my morning sickness with my son by using Jin Shin on myself, and able to get rid of the hiccups and able to help my hubby's knee pain that keeps falring up from his surgery 8 yrs ago, and more. Just had to share my good story on that, when I was reminded of Jin Shin. Thanks for bringing it up Esther --- hekrug wrote: > I have also wanted to add for awhile that Jin Shin > seems to help my daughter and other kids (and me too > !)
