Guest guest
Marla, Thank you for your words of encouragement! It's wonderful to read about success stories like you experienced with your son. It gives me hope Currently, we put the thoughts into the worry box and review them later in the day. I like your idea of including the process of throwing away the worry. I'm going to try that with my daughter tonight. I'm sorry to hear about your son's speech issues. Kids can be so mean sometimes. Is the school intervening? Thanks again, Brigitte in VT -----------We just went through this with my 9 year old son. The worry box worked wonders as did writing down the thoughts and throwing them away. We then had him create a box to put the OCD bully into (this is what we call his obsessive bad thoughts. We tell him it is NOT him thinking them, but the OCD bully. We tell him we don't talk to the OCD bully) and then tape it up and throw it away. It worked wonders. Thankfully we have not seen a reoccurrance of this. His was triggered by school starting again and some of his very close friends teasing him about his speech issues. Hang in there. It does get better.
