Guest guest
Hi Sharon, Thank you for the warm welcome. When your daughter was seeking reassurance over the glasses, dishes or water, did you explain everything was safe or did you try to point out it was OCD being a bother? I've tried using logic with my daughter, but I'm learning quickly how OCD defies logic in many ways. It's hard to be a mom who wants to help when her therapist requests I stop offering assurances. Sigh..... I'm glad your daughter is through the clean dishes/water OCD. Has anyone read conclusive studies that point to a common gender and age for the onset of OCD? I'm wondering if hormones can in some way trigger the neurological system to misfire. Brigitte in VT Welcome to the group. I am the mom of a 10 yr old dd with OCD, too. She mostly needs the reassurance, too. This spring/summer was the worst, but now that school has started, it is getting better. She asked about the glasses, water, etc, too. She was only drinking bottled water this summer, still mostly drinks it, but is back to our dishes and tap water. We have the same 2 books, they are good. The therapist should help, I hope it does. Ours is great.
