Guest guest
Hi, I'm no expert on the meds, but wondering if just switching, or adjusting, the Buspar might help, and keep the Prozac. Since you said his OCD is better, but he also has anxiety. Which med was he on first, was he on either alone first? (e.g, buspar added later?) > > Hi...My son (13) is currently on prozac and buspar. While it's been doing great with his ocd...his anxiety has been worse. He is having panic attacks out in public, such as the mall, restaurants, any crowded place. I'm thinking he needs a med adjustment, but not sure what. Our psychaitryst has retired, and it's 2 months to get into a new one. I'm going to get him into our family dr, but want to have some ideas of what meds to try. My husband is on Luvox and Effexor, and it works great for him. I don't think effexor is available for kids, is it? >
Guest guest
He was on the Prozac first. We can't really up that as it reeks havoc with his digestive system. Do you think upping the buspar might do it?
Guest guest
I'd ask his doctor about the Buspar. You could google the dosage range and compare to what he's on and ask the doctor about either going up or trying something else. Just a thought, > > He was on the Prozac first. Guest guest
Don't know how long he's been on the mess, but it is common to have more anxiety when you begin these meds. My son is on only 2.5mg Prozac and 15mg Buspar. He cannot do bigger doses. Luvox is something that is fairly common to prescribe in kids, but it would take a more " progressive " doctor to prescribe Effexor ( a drug more complex) Honestly, I don't know that there's a problem with this ....especially since it works for dad, but that is up to his doctor. It's always good to utilize the experts associate with this group (I.e. Dr. Geller) too. Best Wishes, Bonnie > > Hi...My son (13) is currently on prozac and buspar.
