Guest guest
Thanks for sharing this Kara! I think I saw the PANS mentioned a while back (first I'd heard the term) so glad you shared this. Have to read later, just peeking in now from work. Will probably take me a bit of time to not automatically type PANDAS! > > This is a great article that was published in the most recent IOCF newsletter. It was written by Jenike, a highly regarded expert in the field of OCD. It mentions a name change from PANDAS to PANS, to take into account that infections other than strep are often at play. In addition to listing symptoms, it gives recommendations for testing to pursue prior to starting treatment as well as treatment options. > > I think this is a great thing to pass on to doctors, psychiatrists and teachers...especially if their knowledge of PANS (formerly PANDAS or PITAND) is limited. > > Here is the link: http://www.ocfoundation.org/default.aspx?id=2279 & terms=pandas > > Kara >
Guest guest
No problem! While I'm here I'm also going to share a milestone. My dd9 went to the hairdresser yesterday for the first time in over a year! This was a biggie for us. The funny thing was, when I complimented on what a great job she did, she had no idea why I thought so. It apparently caused her no discomfort/fear whatsoever. She also asked when she could stop taking her medication. I told her that Dr. J said 2 months after her all her symptoms are gone. She replied, " so in 2 months? " Even though I think she still has some minor lingering symptoms, she apparently feels good herself. I took that as a good sign. Guest guest
Hooray for your dd, even tho she doesn't know she needs a " hooray! " That's great she feels she has no symptoms. She's on an antibiotic type med, right? (for PANS - see, I did that! or the lyme/bartonella...) Anyway, I do hope it all continues when she's off them. Cross fingers! You'll have to give us an update on that when the time comes. > > > > Thanks for sharing this Kara! I think I saw the PANS mentioned a while back (first I'd heard the term) so glad you shared this.
