Hi Members!!!

I just found this online and though I'd share it with everyone.

In 2000, 67% of 100 parents of children with autism described their child as a

poor eater. However, 73% of that same group of parents reported that their

child had a good appetite for preferred foods (, 2000). How frustrating

for these families to realize that their child can eat but is choosing not to

eat in a manner that is healthy.

Problems with food acceptance are common for children on the autism spectrum.

Many families struggle with these issues thinking that the child is simply a

picky eater that comes with the diagnosis of autism. Moving Past Picky Eating

is a free webinar to families that addresses the common issues seen that revolve

around the kitchen table. This webinar aims to show how these challenging

behaviors can change for the better through ABA therapy.

Families will learn not only what constitutes picky eating versus a pediatric

feeding disorder but also the research that has been conducted on effective

treatment. From this research, possible treatment interventions will be

discussed.

Sponsored by the Center for Autism and Related Disorders, Moving Past Picky

Eating is being broadcast online on 10/18/11 from 5-7pm PST and 10/21/11 from

12-2pm PST. Space is limited for each webinar and reservations are required.

Please RSVP to a.reyes@... to ensure a spot.
