Guest guest
You can do a google search for " DSM-IV Asperger's " to find the criteria for an Asperger's diagnosis. The new DSM-V won't be final until 2013. That's when the Asperger's diagnosis will no longer exist. Not sure if they've made any changes to OCD.  Misty >To: >Sent: Friday, July 22, 2011 9:29 PM >Subject: aspergers diagnosis in DSM > > > >What is the Asperger diagnosis under in the DSM? Guest guest
They are lumping it in with Autism. So if you have any autistic traits, you will be considered as having ASD. No more Asperger's. It makes more sense because so many people have so many varying symptoms.. It can be difficult to sort out who is Aspie and who is HFA and who is PDD-NOS, etc. So if they just say everyone has ASD, it's easier.. It's been a while since I looked, but I believe they are going to have levels to describe severity of symptoms.  A lot of people are upset to see the Asperger's diagnosis go. I am neutral on the subject.. I will probably always say my daughter has Asperger's though.. Not Autism.. Here's a good article..  http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=123527833  Misty >To: >Sent: Saturday, July 23, 2011 12:46 AM >Subject: RE: aspergers diagnosis in DSM > > > >Wow it will no longer exist?, that doesn't make sense to me at all .does that mean its no longer considered a disorder ? > > aspergers diagnosis in DSM >> >> >> >>What is the Asperger diagnosis under in the DSM?
