Guest guest
I just wanted to report that my OCD son is doing well this term, after a difficult last term. We gave him a resource period, dropped him down to regular Alg.2(from enhanced Alg.2), got him moved to his favorite English teacher (who also has an LD teacher in the room) and he has two hands on classes (woods and metals). Seems to be working so far. Have not seen alot of rituals lately. I didn't know how it would be now that his older bro is back living at home b/c of his own mental health issues (Bipolar). His only complaint has been that he doesn't get to use the car on Th/Fri. I think he likes someone to talk to and also sees someone else struggling with a brain that is going a hundred miles an hour. Guest guest
Hi , glad this term is going so much better. We also considered 's OCD when he chose classes, where he might take a honors/advanced science class but the regular English type (English ones required a lot of writing), things like that. That was in high school. In middle school we didn't have choices like that, all or nothing, but in 8th did drop him down one level from advanced, which he was okay with. Glad it seems to be a smooth transition too since older brother is back home, he probably does feel, oh, maybe less alone with this " mental health " stuff since brother also is going through treatment. Hope you are doing well too! > > I just wanted to report that my OCD son is doing well this term, after a difficult last term. Guest guest
I also want to tell you how happy I am that your son is doing well! It is always good to hear about people who are having success with this disorder. I am curious because you both said you were able to get your kids to drop down a level from an advanced class. My daughter is in 7th grade and her teachers, psychiatrist and I were all trying to get her to drop from her advanced math class, but she refused. She was afraid people would think she was stupid and she did not want to leave all of her friends. I noticed that said her son was okay with that, , was your son okay with dropping to regular Algebra? We stopped pushing it with her because she was so adamant to not change, but if her performance does not improve she may have no choice next year because she won't meet the standards to be in these classes. > > > > I just wanted to report that my OCD son is doing well this term, after a difficult last term.
