Guest guest
Hi there. I'm new here. I have a son who is 9 years old. My son has diagnosis's of ADHD, OCD, ODD, SPD and has speech issues. His OCD is causing him to confess every single thing he does wrong going back to when he was 4 and 5 years old (how much is accurate memory, I don't know. Sometimes I think he dreams stuff and thinks it really happened). He is 9. He threw a 4 hour fit last night because he wanted to tell us everything he had done wrong (this has been going on for a week now) at bedtime after I had listened to him nearly all day long. I've tried listening to him, talking to him, punishing him (which he told me is what he wanted so he got put in his room in time out for a while), reasoning with him, telling him all is forgiven, telling him G-d forgives him and so on. Nothing is working. Nothing. He gets up and starts right back up again this morning. I told him I wanted to hear 3 good things he does today and the only thing I want to hear negative is if someone is teasing him (which there are 3 kids who tease him about his speech) or if he gets hurt. Otherwise, his teachers will let him know if he does something that warrants being punished for. I know that this confessing is a classic OCD sign but he gets a ton of positive attention and reassurance and love, that I don't know WHY he is doing this. He called me from school crying today because he had to confess he gave his grapes to his sister. Again, no big deal in my mind. This is a child who would NEVER admit to doing anything wrong so I am not sure where or why this started. We have only seen a pediatrician up until now. I do have an appointment with a therapist next week but need help now so he can get through the next week of school. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
