Guest guest
Hi , My daughter takes intuniv along with numerous other meds. It did seem to have some calming effect on her. She too has tics and OCD. She is also diagnosed with bipolar so we are very watchful over any increase in irritability. We did not notice anything. As far as her focus, if it improved, the difference was subtle. She only takes 2 mg/day and weighs 150 pounds so 4 mg does sound a bit high. Guest guest
My son has ADHD & OCD - his MD will not currently treat the ADHD with meds because she believes that the effective meds for ADHD make OCD kids very very anxious - can really ignite the OCD -we are treating his ADHD with behavior therapy - MD says the teachers are just going to have to deal with it - .....I would be careful increasing ADHD meds & check with Dr.... Best of Luck! > > Hello, my son is 7 and having focus issues at school. He has OCD, ticks, Terets and other issues. We are starting intuniv 1mg for one wk then adding 2mg second week. We noticed it made him more irritated, more ticks. I think this is for ADHD and not OCD or Ticks. Should we keep trying and let him get to 4mg. Not really noticing any change in focus. Can't decide if we should try it longer. He does get more emotional. Don't know what to do? Anyone try this medication? Thanks, >
Guest guest
I have a 7 year old son with OCD and ADHD. He was dx. with the OCD when he was 4-5 years old and dx. with ADHD 3 months ago. He is on Luvox 75mg. for OCD and we tried Concerta and Vyvanse for the ADHD and WOW it made his OCD out of control very aggitated and non stop repeating and everthing MUST be said the right way! He was taken off of the med's for the ADHD and is now only on the OCD med. and is so much better, he will have the repeating and saying it just right 1 or 2 times a day. I was also told that the ADHD meds could make the OCD worse and it did. Good luck and we must keep going for our kiddos and battling this nasty condition!! for , " B " wrote: > > My son has ADHD & OCD - his MD will not currently treat the ADHD with meds because she believes that the effective meds for ADHD make OCD kids very very anxious - can really ignite the OCD -we are treating his ADHD with behavior therapy - MD says the teachers are just going to have to deal with it - .....I would be careful increasing ADHD meds & check with Dr.... > Best of Luck! > > > > > > > Hello, my son is 7 and having focus issues at school. Guest guest
My 7-year-old son also was diagnosed with both OCD and ADHD. He is currently off all medication because of problems with Zoloft (Sertraline) causing rages and his refusal (fear) to swallow pills. However, for a brief period he was able to swallow a 1 mg. dose of Intuniv and we noticed his hyperactivity was under so much better control. Unfortunately, I don't think it did anything to help his compulsions, and besides he won't swallow the pills now. I'm curious to know what kind of behavioral therapies are being used to help with the ADHD. > > > > > > > > Hello, my son is 7 and having focus issues at school. Guest guest
My 13yr old had very mild ADHD - it does seems as the OCD meds have made it worse - Lowered the OCD meds to find relief of ADHD - OCD symptoms started to creep back - For us, OCD was the most important thing to have under control. > > > > > > > > Hello, my son is 7 and having focus issues at school.
