I think the issue with AS that stands out is a fascination with

parts of things. My daughter knows so much about

betta fish, and then she obsesses over the gravel in the

tank, and then she moves on to something else

like making stuffed animals and then she collects all these

buttons for the eyes but doesn't get around to putting

any on them. AS kids are hyper focused on their own interests,

the group is talking about boys and my daughter talks

about her interests.

Anxiety can make you so hyperfocused too that you

don't socialize well.

Anxious people focus on things out of a fear of harm, where

AS people may have anxiety too, but in their relaxed

frame of mind is an obsession with parts or things more

than relationships.

Hope this helps.

I am try to figure this all out in my mind and is tough . he is 14 he has had

social problems all thru elementary school and even middle school he only had

one friend thru elemntary school. He was bullied even though he was a normal

looking child, always very smart and very mature, polite has manners ect. OCD.

GAD,and seperation anxiety were diagnosed around age 9. I would think if it was

Aspergers or anything on that spectrum that the doctors that did his psych eval

would have noticed it. He had a full eval at 9 and another one at 11 no mention

of aspergers or that spectrum. He is the one that came to me and said mom I ave

Aspergers then told me all his symptoms and showed me the info and he told me he

took the ASPIE quiz online that showed he had more aspie than neurotypical

traits.I am just confused I see that alot of these disorders have symptoms that

overlap into the other especially OCD and Aspergers there are often misdiagnosis

of the two. I have decided to just wait and see what the doctor says! thanks all

for he info
