Hi, welcome! I have a 23 yr old son who also suffers with Scrupe since high

school. He also has Aspergers. I'm impressed your son did well with his

earlier therapy. has poor insight into this Scrupulosity being OCD. I

thought maybe the " Aspie part " might contribute to that. Do you think any of

his inflexibility on things may be the Aspie traits and not the OCD? Can go

either way with .

I assume you checked the OCD Foundation website for therapists in Rochester?

They have a search feature there.

Hate this has affected his school/education so much. Does he have an IEP or a

504 Plan? The 504 Plan really helped us when needed it.

Hi there,

Sorry that your son's OCD has ramped up and is limiting him so much. I know how

hard this is, especially when they were doing well. Just wanted to offer some

links to docs who do skype.

You might want to make a post with " ERP therapist in Rochester NY or by Skype " .

Here are some links to try -

www.ocdhope.com - offers skype therapy. Dr. Hyman, author of the OCD Workbook,

heads this centre in Florida.

www.ocdonline.com - Dr. on - offers phone consultation/skype

This is a very comprehensive site with articles on scrupe, plus

www.douglaszimmerman.net - in New York city, NY - says they offer skpe therapy

where appropriate.

www.gatewayocd.com - California - offers skype

There are others, just google and you will find. These are just a few I had

found in the past.

Our son is 20, and is just completing his last course to graduate high school.

At one point we wondered if he ever would. Just to offer this hope. It's so

hard when they are not able to function and you are not sure of their future.

We also had hospitalizations, as well as extreme reactions to medications,

derailed any possible ERP for some time. Securing adequate treatment for OCD is

probably as difficult as the disorder itself, and disheartening - I feel for you

on this.

That's great that he WAS with Dr.Wagner though, she is a top doc for OCD. So,

at least he learned all about ERP and was able to do it, which is critical.

Hold on to this, knowing what he is capable of.

Ages and stages and stressors really can affect the evolving of OCD, I find. It

becomes more sophisticated and attacks them at the core. Scrupe based stuff can

be hard to work with, we have this too. Does your son do mental rituals, do you

know? Ours has verbal type rituals, gets locked in to something and needs to

keep talking about it. Our is on the spectrum/ASP, and we also have the

inflexibility, like says, it can be hard to know where it stems from.

Their brains definitely make them more rigid with everything.

Best to you in your search for therapist! Ours refuses to see anyone anymore,

given up, no one with much expertise in our area either - well that would be all

of Canada, at least for severe OCD. Skype is a really good option, no limit to

expertise you can access there. Guess it depends on funding though.

As I write I am thinking if you have no luck with the above you might want to

try Dr. Jenike for a referral. He is a top psychiatrist, with the ocfoundation,

very devoted to helping anyone coping with OCD.

The email I have for him is - Jenike@.... He is usually very

responsive.

Warmly,

Barb

OCD is back, worse than ever and making life miserable for both of us. I am a

single parent. Most of his issues are scrupulosity and total inflexibility about

certain things. He doesn't have many rituals-just mainly bad thought OCD.Due to

this and other physical medical conditions, he isn't graduating HS on time.

Added to all this is he is extremely brilliant and when not in OCD mode very

very rational and logical. He has had 2 mental health hospitalizations at a local

place but they were basically useless because all they did was medicate and in

both cases caused worse problems. My son has very unusual reactions to meds.

> We moved out of Philly a few years ago to Rochester NY. He was seeing Dr

Wagner but she moved. Since than we haven't found anyone who he clicked with and

who knew what they were doing with CBT. We thought maybe he could Skype with his

former therapist but she doesn't do Skype therapy.

> I need some suggestions of therapists who are local in Rochester or who do

Skype sessions. We are working with the waiver program and the office of mental

health here and they have had no decent therapists to refer us to so any help

would be appreciated.

> Thanks so much
