Guest guest
Hi Di, I've forwarded this to Dr. Geller. Will post his reply when I receive. > > My daughter (16) is on 150 mg daily of zoloft(for ocd) and 30 mg daily of amitryptylline(for migraines). She has been on this dose of zoloft for over 2 years. She still has considerable unwanted thoughts that she alleviates by asking me questions and repeating things to me. > > Her doctor (family doctor) is switching her from zoloft to prozac. He said she could just stop zoloft and begin prozac, but I thought there had to be a tapering off period. He said since I was concerned to follow this schedule: decrease zoloft to 100 mg for 1 week, then 50 mg for 1 week, then stop altogether - at same time as tapering to begin prozac at 20 mg per day for 2 weeks, then increase to max dose of 40 mg. > > Does this schedule seem appropriate for the switch? > > Thank You, > Di >

Guest guest
If you could please forward this question to Dr. Geller, I'd be most appreciative. Dear Dr. Geller, My 14 year old son is currently taking 400mg of Luvox for his OCD & it seems to be keeping the symptoms at bay. He is in 8th grade and really having a difficult time concentrating in class. (He has had this problem to a very small degree in the past -but didn't interfere with his grades) He says he can pay attention for about 10 minutes and then he looses focus. Per his MD we lowered the Luvox to 300mg to see if perhaps the meds were causing the lack of focus. It doesn't appear to be helping with focus - and the OCD symptoms are creeping back. He is on Luvox because Zoloft made him depressed. His MD (Dr. at CWRU-University Hospitals Cleveland) says that the ADHD meds create more anxiety and therefore can't be treated along with OCD. We are most gratefuly for your input. Warmly,
