Guest guest
I would find a different therapist as it sounds Like yours just gave up. Is he on medication? Sent from my iPhone > just as we were looking forward to a nice long rest from school, and school anxieties, my sons OCDs seem to be worse now that school has stopped............his therapist who he sees for Aspergers related counselling also has decided to start slowly finishing with him, gone from weekly to every 3/4 weeks, this has also upset him, he doesnt feel ready......but talking with here she says she has given HIM the tools to work with and he has to try to manage this on his own, I see new behaviors starting, and I suspect many more that he is not telling me......he has a new fear of going to sleep, scared he will not wake up, he has overheard me saying when i was having a genearal anaesthetic 2 weeks ago thaT I was scared of not waking up from the surgery and this has stuck in his head( i did not know he was listening to my conversation in the garden with a friend as im usually careful, im sure you all know this, watching everything you say so not to set off another meltdown) > I feel like we are fighting a losing battle with OCD, our conversations are all OCD related, mostly son trying to get my reassurance that this or that disaster wont happen, and i hate to see the worry etched on his face when his thoughts are totally taken up by these fears, sadly he has had a couple of significant deaths in the family, and he finds death very hard to deal with...........and his biggest fear is he will be left on his own if something happens to me, as it is only the 2 of us, do i now ask for more counselling for him, focusing on his other fears, or try something new, no matter how much i reassure that im not going to die, i cannot convince him........and reading OCD books tells me not to reassure, to expose him to the feelings.......but this does not seem to help.......any ideas folks?? > thanks maree > >
