Guest guest
My son reacted very quickly too, but not that quickly. I was giving him 1/4 tsp 2x a day (each 1/4 tsp is 845 mg). I increased it every few days until we reached about 4 grams a day. I had noticed a difference in him sooner than that, but it was at this level that HE noticed a difference in himself. Said he felt calmer and wasn't having as many thoughts. This was almost 3 years ago when he was 9. Now he's 12 and doing extremely well. He still takes inositol, which I adjust up and down from time to time as needed. He currently takes about 7 grams a day, which is still considered low. I also wonder if it's the inositol that helps him. I don't want to stop giving it to him to find out though! No side effects, so I just keep giving it to him. I'm glad you're seeing some improvement, whatever the reason may be. I hope you have the success with inositol that we've had.
Guest guest
Hi, Just wanted to chime in with my experience (this is my first time posting to the group): We noticed a difference within a few days. My DD (age 6.5 and weighs about 42 lbs) only takes 845 mg/day (Source Naturals brand powder; available on Amazon). The difference in the last 3 months has been astounding and can only be attributed to the inositol. Almost overnight, the intense anxiety, intrusive thoughts, meltdowns and opposition practically disappeared. She still gets 'stuck' on things and has some anxiety, but she is much more able to cope with transitions and change much more easily and most meltdowns tend to fizzle out instead of ramp up. Her social skills (she also has an Asperger's dx) have also improved dramatically now that she isn't overwhelmed by anxiety. She actually plays with other children now instead of clinging to me at the playground. I cried the first time she ran off to play with another little girl. (((I hope inositol works as well for your DD.))) And thanks to the group for the wealth of information here...I may not post, but I get great comfort from the information and shared experiences. -- To: From: jennifercurnow@... Guest guest
, happy to hear how well your DD is doing, and on inositol too. She's doing really well on that 845 mg, very low dose! > > > Hi, > Just wanted to chime in with my experience (this is my first time posting to the group): We noticed a difference within a few days. Guest guest
My son, 8 years old, takes 16 grams of inositol a day. 6 grams, 3x day. I started to notice a difference in about 2 weeks.(we started him out at a low dose and increased over time.) He still has some intrusive thoughts but is able deal with them. Or he will come to me for reassurance and I tell him " that thought is OCD, not you! Don't listen to it! " Layla Sent from my iPad
Guest guest
Thanks, Chris! I was completely shocked to see such as change so quickly and with such a small dose. I'm reluctant to increase it at all since she is doing so well...I've read about mania coming from high doses in some kids and don't want to risk it (we have a strong family history of bipolar disorder and know DD is at risk). I hope others read this and give inositol a try. 3 months ago I wouldn't have believed DD would be functioning so well. We really were at a breaking point when we gave it a try.
