Guest guest
Dear Thank you so much for your encouraging words. And congratulations on a raising a son who has achieved so much, despite his challenges. Sounds like you've worked very hard to provide him with the best of care, looking at all avenues. It gives me hope for my friend's boy. I will definitely encourage her to look into therapy and join this community as well. I think that it's scary for her to do so--sort of accepting the diagnosis at a deeper level. But I think that it would be very helpful, maybe even healing, to know that she's not alone. > > > > Hello! > > I have had OCD (since I was 19 and am now in my 30s) and ironically enough my friend's son, who's 9, also has OCD as well as Tourette's. I have been remarkably helped through Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and SSRIs. I can't wait until the day when he can take advantage of these treatments. But when is it time to do so? > > My friend's son's doctor has prescribed meds primarily to treat the Tourette's and has avoided SSRIs and CBT. But the OCD has gotten worse and worse over the past several years. >
