Guest guest
Meg and Jon, My daughter used to wash her hands so often that her knuckles were constantly bleeding all winter. Â We had the best luck using Lansinoh -- which is pure lanolin and marketed for breast-feeding mothers. Â I put Lansinoh on her hands every night at bedtime (sometimes after she was asleep, because she didn't like the texture of lotions, etc.) and then covered her hands with white tube socks (turned inside out so the socks didn't stick to her hands) that went to her elbows. Â By morning, her hands were better, although they were worse again every night because she wouldn't use lotion during the day. Good luck!! But it looks bad today. I had her at Urgent care on Thurs night and he said it wasn't infected. I just don't know if there is some magic lotion/cream anyone has found. Thanks in advance. Guest guest
For excessive handwashing, We also try A & D lotion for healing at night, as well as mineral oil or baby oil after washing instead of lotion. My son doesnt like the " feel " of Eucerin (our pediatrician prescribed Derma Cerin -for skin and wound care/eczema). I also switched to dove hand soap or a moisture rich body wash instead of hand soap for him (olay). This has improved the condition of his hands and wrists a great deal. We have also worked on slowly reducing hand sanitizer use and the number of times he can wash. - t
Guest guest
We used Eucerin thick cream, something like this http://www.drugstore.com/eucerin-original-moisturizing-creme/qxp16893?catid=1694\ 49 . It's very thick & I think it comes with gloves to wear after putting on the cream at night. It helped heal my daughter's hands quickly in the short run. Ultimately, exposures will help stop or slow the need to wash excessively. Good luck. Dot > > What can I do for her? > > She washes, pats dry, and then puts lotion on. But it looks bad today. Guest guest
What has helped here, is to dilute the liquid soap (we use castile soap) by about 1 part soap to 8 (or more) parts water. She still gets to wash, but it's much more gentle on her skin. > > > > What can I do for her? > > > > She washes, pats dry, and then puts lotion on. But it looks bad today.
