Guest guest
There has been some talk on here recently about allergies and histimine and flare ups in ocd. I didn't read through many of them, but maybe look at some of the past archives on the subject. So sorry you are going through this. in WA ________________________________ To: Sent: Sunday, April 29, 2012 5:15 PM Subject: spring  Hello everyone, Does anyone else have a child that has OCD " flare ups " in the spring time? My son, who is 7, has had OCD flare ups in the spring for the last three years! I could understand if it were in the winter because it is so dark and gloomy, but it is always the spring. Fortunately, up until this point, it has been really bad for a couple of months and then gets much better again until next spring. He is having a pretty bad flare up now though, as he has been obsessed with choking, and will not eat his lunch at school. My son, who used to cry when he was sick because he COULD NOT go to school, is now crying because he has to go to school. It just really rips my heart out that he is cursed with this at such a young age. Thanks,
Guest guest
Hi, as said this topic has come up quite a lot over time. So have to say it seems common. Another thought is if a child has PANDAS OCD or PANS type, strep or other illnesses going around the school might spike up the OCD. Although my son was never tied to the PANDAS type, his OCD still increased when he had a fever, even just a slight one. > > > > > > Hello everyone, Does anyone else have a child that has OCD " flare ups " in the spring time? Guest guest
I could have written your post. This is our second year going through this " spring " flare up with my 4 year old daughter. She, too, would cry when there was no school becausse she loved it so much. Her OCD and fear of school got so bad I had to pull her out a few weeks ago. In the winter she was GOLDEN! No problems! Come Spring? We're home bound now. Last year we had 4 months of crisis mode then by September she was able to go to school again. > > > > > > Hello everyone, Does anyone else have a child that has OCD " flare ups " in the spring time? Guest guest
Speaking of support groups for kids, has anyone used the yahoo group on-line support group for kids? Kathy, it's great that your daughter formed a group. What a wonderful coping strategy! My 10 yr old son is really struggling with not feeling like he fits in and often has expressed a lot of sadness about feeling " different " . He is very bright, not athletic, will only wear certain types of clothes and does have at least one visible compulsion (lotion/chapstick) and those set him apart some but he has always been liked and respected by his classmates from what I can tell and what the teachers say so I'm not sure if his perception is part his OCD or normal growing pains). He would like to connect with other OCD kids but we don't have any support groups in our area. I had also thought about the national conference but wasn't sure if the interactions with other kids would make him feel better or cause him to worry that he would start other compulsions he observed.
