Several weeks ago I posted that we were thinking of getting a dog for our ds 12

as a companion/stress reliever etc.   I loved all the advice and info I got from

here and wanted to let you know we did go ahead and get a small dog.  It is a

female cocker spaniel w/a little Jack terrier.   She is super placid and

rarely barks.  Paxton LOVES her.   He was overcome when he got out of the van

from camp Friday night and she was waiting for him.   He has totally taken over

all care of her, walking her every hour outside as we try and house train etc.

But the huge success was that last night they slept together in Paxton's bed in

his bedroom.  Paxton has not slept in his room in 2 years!  The room was too

scary because there were windows and he could sleep in the basement family room

because there were not windows and it felt safer.   And this was after we

refused to let him sleep in our bed every night which is what he really wanted.

    So

if this dog does nothing but get him sleeping in his own room/bed we are happy

:)    And we hope they will continue to form a strong bond and be real

buddies, particularly after school starts and the real anxiety producing stuff

sets in.  ......................Larkellen
