Guest guest
I'm in the process of getting Allie back on gfcf diet, when school ends in May I will completely have her on it. My goal is to get her on a rotation diet where she is consuming most foods only once every 3 days. She's very routine-oriented, as well as loves calendars. For those on spectrum (anyone else is welcome to comment as well) I'm wondering. If you are highly selective in your eating, would having a structured eating plan where you would know you would be eating the same thing on a chart help you to overcome preferred/non-preferred foods? Like, Allie is nibbing gfcf chicken nuggets, and has loved them in the past, but is self-limiting again. Do you think she would find more comfort/joy in the nuggets if she knew every 3 days for lunch she would be having them? Another idea I had is to start with only the foods she is currently eating, Kinnikinnick donut for breakfast, chips & juice for lunch (we keep packing nuggets, she won't eat), and fries for supper. I thought about doing a chart of these foods for several days and then throwing in like one item, like some K-toos, a gfcf cookie. Then throwing in some gluten free breakfast bars on some mornings, again, she will nibble on both these but not greatly enjoying them. I also thought about bribery with getting her to eat them more, with giving her a sheet of color wonder paper every time she takes a couple of bites. Ideally, I want to have only some days with rice, some days with corn, some days with chicken, some with turkey, etc. Eventually I'm hoping to have her on a far more balanced diet, which has been virtually impossible to now. She seems to be at an age/ability to comprehend & communicate more, and her food defensiveness seems to be every so slightly decreasing, I want to take advantage of that without pushing her defensiveness back up. Today we played a game of eating the dinosaur nugget's head & tail off, she seemed to really enjoy that right up to eating it, anyway. TIA for any help.
