Guest guest
Witch Hazel Witch Hazel bark and leaves are rich in tannin and gallic acid, bitters, and a little volatile oil. This herb acts as an astringent and an anti-inflammatory. Although the leaves are commonly used, the bark is useful as well. Most people are familiar with Witch Hazel in its distilled form, sold at most drugstores as an astringent. However, you can make a tea, an ointment, or a tincture from this herb. For a tea, use one cup of boiling water with one teaspoon of dried leaves. You can drink this three times a day. Witch Hazel taken internally can control diarrhea, and used externally can ease hemorrhoids or treat bruises and swellings.- Carla Joy
