I haven't sent an e-mail in a while. All is calm here for the moment. My

son, 6, was diagnosed with OCD in December of last year. I don't think I

would have ever thought he had OCD unless he started having morbid thoughts

about hurting me. We found a great therapist in NJ, Dr. Haines. In

just 3 appointments, he had the morbid thoughts under control and became a

pro at talking about this OCD monster. He has been thought free of hurting

me for about a month and 1/2. For about the past 3 weeks, he hasn't even

brought up his OCD monster.

I am happy about this, but I have done enough research to know that I might

not be out of the woods. I did have a question for others. Are OCD

children annoying? Might be a harsh word but our son, since as far back as

I can remember, can't seem to stop himself. For instance, he will put his

feet in your face. Normal childhood prank, but he brings it to a whole

other level. He keeps doing it, over and over and over. You tell him to

stop, but he just keeps doing it until you yell at him. If you try to walk

away he follows you.. the only thing that seems to break the cycle is

yelling at him. That is why I ask the question, it seems like he needs to

be " slapped " back into reality with a disciplinary tone. He has been

annoying his friends more and more to the point where our play dates have

become less and less. I try to speak to him about it and he says he doesn't

hear his friends, or us, when we tell him to stop. He doesn't know why he

does it. Since getting this morbid thoughts under control,

this personality trait seems to be at an all time high.

I am going to talk to his thearpist about my theory at our next

appointment, but just curious if this could be a symptom of OCD or do I

just have a super annoying child.

Thanks,
